Literally any other randomly generated open world game. Creating a world generator that generates a trillion worlds doesn't mean shit unless they can make at least a fraction of those world interesting, which I can already tell you that they can't. The problem is that you just can't make a world generator that does not get repetitive, unless you would waste so much time on it that it becomes more efficient to just make a hand crafted world.

>>
>>344799450

If it's not something they cared to design themselves, then you'd have to have no taste to enjoy it. The game is going to be pure bullshit and the majority of the game is just going to be redundant copy-paste. It's not like they're going to be anything special because chances are nobody would ever even come across the specific planet if any of them had any unique features.

I don't understand much tech-wise but I think they did put a lot of efforts into this. Some of the worlds they've showed look pretty interesting, one of the videos had a giant worm straight out of Dune for fuck sake. And I heard they created little programs to make gifs of plents automatically to check the possible variations, which I think is pretty cool.

Can't really see how it holds up without playing it however.

From what they've shown, the gameplay is shooting other spacecraft and shooting things with your gun on foot. Shooting anything other than the dirt when you're on foot spawns robot police out of thin air, and defending yourself will repeat the process until there are too many of them and you die.

It is not mutually exclusive of intentional design. The generator responds to rules set forth by the devs.

it feels like the entire sales pitch for the game is it's got a "really really big" map

"really really big" means fuck all for a procedurally generated game. Notch could have made the minecraft map "a bazillion square miles" but that does not automatically make the game better or more interesting

What do you even do in this game? The devs haven't even shown anything other than MUH PROCEDURAL UNIVERSE, which means they are hiding the fact that there is absolutely NO good gameplay. The closest thing they've shown to gameplay is shooting fucking crystals for resources. Why? So you can go from your red planet with red deer and red crystals to a blue planet with blue deer to mine blue crystals, then to a green planet, etc etc, until you reach the center where they'll give you a pat on the head for sitting through their dog turd of a game. Oh, and those planets you just mined from? Those changes aren't saved, which means it's IMPOSSIBLE to leave a long-lasting impact on the universe. Wowee, truly an engaging, innovative, next-gen experience.

No meaningful gameplay+no story+no multiplayer=shit game, a fucking walking simulator. The 6gb of data just confirms this; it's fucking nothing: the video game. Nu Male's Spore is the embodiment of everything wrong with this generation of """""gaming""""", where devs write code to shite out a mess, instead of crafting the game, by hand, themselves. And 60 dollars? Seriously? For this crappy little INDIE game? How could you defend a game where the devs charge $60 for procedurally generated nothing? Oh, that's right, modern "gaymers" will empty their wallets to gargle whatever feces developers decide to throw their way these days.

From the developers of the classic, award winning series Joe Danger, Hello Games brings you Spore 2.0: an absolute fucking disappointment! It's literally minecraft without building. It's 3D Starbound, but even worse. I don't see why anyone could be hyped for this garbage. Have you people not learned your lesson?
>>
>>344800327

the way the system will work isn't based on distance, you will just go in straight line for some time until the game rolls you a new chunk that has a planet

the planets will be very close together compared with irl

i also am betting that you could travel back and forth a certain distance and eventually a new chunk will roll and appear as if you've been traveling in a straight line

I think there's absolutely no multiplayer at all in the game, and that it was a marketing lie

I think discovered worlds that have been named etc will be added to the list of rollable chunks for other players to discover, and that the arrangement of systems and plants for each player will be different

calling it now
>>
>>344805256
Yeah, also I feel like PC is going to kill video games. Phone games have been dead since the beginning, but this is actually something I care about
Thanks to the fedoration of redditors that subscribe to the idea of "PC master race" and other ironic shit that people take seriously, they are going to make it so that PC is a monopoly and that every game released every also gets released on PC

On the surface, this seems like a good deal
>"Ayy, I getz to play my vidyer so what's the problem anon?"
Well the thing is, exclusives will no longer exist. Why you might cry in joy, that means that the quality of games will drastically drop. Now that you don't need to make people spend hundreds of dollars on a piece of tech, you have no reason to spend so much time trying to make the best game ever

On the other hand, PC is an oversaturated market. The only thing that succeed there is shitty pixelshit indiefart "games" because they cost nothing to make and ASSFAGGOTS and other MMOs. So Your niche JRPG isn't going to sell anything since it's not what people want. That's like advertising your cock rings between children's cartoons.

And not to mention the whole "Steamsale" thing. Again "blablabla it's good FOR ME, therefore, why not?".
Well because developers will no longer want to make games since people always buy games en masse when a sale happens so they buy them at %75 off, meaning the developer makes jack shit even if they sell a million copies

"But they have to approve it first!" you cry out.
Well the thing is, a copy sold is better than no copies sold. But the reason why no copies are being sold is because people expect AAA games to cost $10

It's like food stamps or other shit. While it's not as impactful there since you NEED to go to a super market, people getting shit at %75 off is going to crash the economy. Fucking Berniecuck logic

ALSO, the online community is even worse. Mainly because of reddit killing every multiplayer game

well they don't pay full price for them at release, it's just like any manufacture bulk discount

valve gets a discount so they can make a profit too

every retailer gets a discount at release, walmart didn't pay $60 for that last game you picked up

but even still, a steam sale doesn't mean the developer/publisher lost any money, it means valve is losing money

games that get put into sales are ones that may have been overstocked, virtually speaking so steam wants to move those units by lowering the price and reducing their losses
