If you are interested in the matter, look up the African Independence period. There were European and other mercs that basically made their own fiefdoms.
Could be an interesting set up for a game - like an FPS with control zones similar to San Andreas' gang turf but more in-depth.
You could be a merc hired by a government to suppress rebels and either work to support the government, work to support the rebels, fuck them both over, or some mix in between.
But I don't think the current vidya industry wants to delve into such complexity let alone the PC bullshit they'd get if you had white mercs in Africa and muh colonialism.

(Gyms/ elite fours/ leagues will all be optional and very hard, but still match the level of the area).

I work in an investment fund specifically focused in Africa. They have improved a great deal since the shitshow of the 80's and 90's, although far from perfect.
This is way too much of a complex subject for a 4chan post. But they're slowly and painfully getting their shit together. Although, I would, as an abundance of caution, recommend whites and other foreigners leave. Many are tolerant now like how Vietnam loves America despite the war, but many still aren't.
Africa is very tribal still, even though they're working on it. Yes, you see crimes against whites. But if there aren't whites, they go for Asians/Indians. If they aren't there they target different countries and believe me, a black South African can tell at a glance some other guy in from across the border from Namibia. Etc, etc.

What annoys me is no game manages to capture the many dimensions of any ethnic or national people in war games. If a game takes place in Africa either they will portray Africans as monolithic tribals/helpless or as black Europe with no problems, never diving into the complexity of the countless tribes/ideologies vying for superiority in a power vacuum left behind when colonialism forcibly structured African lands politically rather than structurally, creating racism and strife.

Well Nazis are a different subject. Personally, I try to understand the position of everyone else. From Nazis to Stalin, to Mao, to Al Qaeda, to ISIS, and everyone in between. Although I don't agree with their positions, from an American national interest perspective, people pick up a rifle and fight for a reason and I think we should understand that reason no matter how justified or vile it may be.
As for Africa, maybe it's best for devs to start with ancient African empires where it was tribe vs tribe and not race vs race. Just like the ancient Roman Italian and Gaulic campaigns where it was white vs white (please no pol-shit), even though they were the same race in a close region, there were massive differences and allegiances. You would join a foreign tribe/power just to fuck over a hated neighbor. Then build on that.
