goldeneye revoltionized the FPS by introducing lots of supplementary crap because the actual gameplay is dogshit hold Z to win stuff. The mission objectives, the "interactive enviroments", the locational damage are all things to slow the game down and make you not realize just how godawful the actual shooting part of goldeneye is
quake revolutionized FPS by having the movement and the shooting controls, the part of the first person shooter where you shoot in first person, be really really good so you don't need 500 foot auto aim like goldeneye. it also has enemies that do more then run until their five feet away and then mindlessly shoot letting you murder dozens of russian soliders without any reistance because only the closest man has time to attack you
