Because the majority of the community never did Coil they decided for Heavensward's raid they would create a normal mode that players would be required to do weekly for months to get a set of gear that would help them complete the "savage" mode which is comparable to coil's difficulty.
This meant that players would see the entire raid's story in one day, and be required to do it over and over and over for loot - so they could go and do a harder version of the fight that is tuned for the real dedicated players who want a challenge. Which leads to massive, massive raid fatigue. Also the fights are way harder than Coil because they don't really give a shit if people aren't able to complete these fights because they know you already saw the story.

Ever since I switched to Siren, I've never had to wait longer than an hour to get into frontlines, and that's on a bad day. Normally, I get in within 20min. I was on Malboro before and even getting into dungeons as DPS was an ordeal; on Siren, I get in as DPS within 10min, easy. Of course, Tanks and Healers get in with no more than 30sec waiting. I think the server / data center your on makes a big difference, but that's hard to know ahead of time.

Yup. It's ok during the right times but when it's off peak you're not going to get any multiplayer done. I always made sure to do my dailies as soon as I got home from work because every hour that passed meant a far longer wait time.
Anyway, the data center for Siren is way more populated and active but, to be fair, there're definitely a lot more douchebags and idiots as well. The only time I read bitching and complaining in Malboro was during PvP. In Siren, it's all the fucking time unless everything is going perfectly, and it's usually some passive aggressive fucktard. That, and I cannot fucking stand seeing "lol" at the end of every single sentence; it's like everyone's using it in place of a fucking period. It's fucking unbelievable. But for the vast majority of dungeon runs that I've done, probably about 100 or more since I've transfered, everyone seems to know what they're doing and they're all performing their roles well. I'm willing to bet that Sharlayan is definitely the next setting, although Ala Mihgo and Doma are solid possibilities as well but since both countries are occupied for Garlemald I figure that Square wants to hold off on that some more before they blow their load. Radz-at-Han should also be introduced at some point eventually as the end all be all for ultimate weapons but probably not for a few more expansions.
Samurai is the big popular choice but I'd love to see a Chemist healer. The basic attacks, cures, and esunas could still be linked to MP but the heavy hitting moves could be very expensive TP moves. Like, 500 TP for a bubble or 300 TP for an instant party wide stoneskin. I feel like that could change up the role a lot.
I guess we're going to Ala Mhigo next expansion after all.

Yes and yes. When the Garleans invaded the Sharlayans packed up and left for the ancestral motherland except for a handful of holdouts. Sharlayan itself is now mostly in ruins.

The safe bet (and what I'd like to see) is the northeast region of Eorzea, including Ala Mihgo since that's the last of the six major city-states for us to see, and will probably wrap up or at least further a lot of the plots and characters introduced thus far, as well as a good amount of Garlean-punching. After that, maybe into the Empire's lands proper, possibly Othard.

Something I can't shake away from is the fact that, every once in a while, characters in the story will talk about how something is a threat "to this very star" or something along those lines. It's been mentioned enough times that I'm getting the feeling that the characters have a pretty good understanding that they're planet is just one in a galaxy. Not to mention that kid in the warring triad story.
What do you guys think about going to different planets? It might as well be a new continent but, for the purposes of the story, it takes place on another planet. I don't think it's THAT far fetched either; FF4 had a segment on the moon, FF7 and 8 had brief space travel, and FF9 had some pretty ridiculous technology in the end game going on. I'd be surprised if the Allagans weren't as least close to space travel. I doubt this would happen until quite far in the story though.

To be fair, the Sahagins haven't really known another way of life aside from warfare. After thinning their own numbers so much, and the calamity sure didn't help, they've had to restort to taking over the Sapsa Spawning grounds just to survive. Leviathan was summoned to wipe out Limsa and make way for a Sahagin invasion. They're just ignorant in the ways of peace, but of course the Sahagin beast tribe quests shows that peace and negotiations aren't outside of the realm of possibility; it just takes having your whole family slaughtered, that's all.

Are you fucking kidding me? For complete shitters, maybe, but I'm almost never not casting a spell, be it offense or healing. Granted, Holy is way too expensive to spam but Aero 3 and Stone 3 can be used without fear of MP starvation and deal excellent damage. By the time a SCH casts Bio 1, Bio 2, Miasma 1, Miasma 2, and Bane, I've already hit the enemy party with Aero 3 and took down a target with a few Stone 3's. I won't deny that SCH is the better damage dealer for prolonged fights but I just can't stand bosses that go invulnerable or fly away, which I feel like is at least half the bosses in this game.
Once you get Shroud of Saints and Assize, you should be using them almost every single time they're available, while Divine Seal is great is preparation for for major attacks and Prescense of Mind is like a secondary Swiftcast.

I was tanking Stone Vigil once and I didn't notice that the healer was, apparently, only using Cure 3 until halfway through the dungeon. I explained how each one is different and so she only used Cure 2 from then on. It get us through, thankfully.
I was also the healer in Hullbreaker Isle Hard once and the tank was annoyed and kept complaining that I kept switching in and out of Cleric Stance, even though no one died. Some people are just bad at this game.

Alexander Midas is pretty cool, but gearing up and getting into savage is a difficult if you don't have a network of people, especially since I have to gear up from ilvl 205. Paladin is easy mode. Basic combos and do your off-cooldown specials whenever they're available. There's not a whole lot to it and it'll get the job done, but Paladin's DPS is infamously low. It's also worth mentioning that Paladin has the best invulnerability special out of the three tanks as well as the ability to heal, with decent potency using Clemency, and apply Protect and Stoneskin. Those unique pros do not detract the cons at all though. Also, shield doesn't work on magic attacks so all of the shield-related abilities are useless against magic based foes, especially ones who auto attack with magic. But, again, PLDs are easy to use and will get the job done regardless of their flaws.
Warriors have some pretty sick combos and are capable dealing massive damage, although they'll have a hard time doing so in their defensive stance. A lot of their best moves are dependent on their Wrath mechanic, which is basically one really long shared cooldown. Once you have enough Wrath, you need to choose to spend it on a single target hard hitting attack or group attack. They're combos also get much more complicated than Paladins and it happens much faster. Generally harder to use but more rewarding as well.
Either way, you'll want to get both of them to Lv15 at least, and further if you can. You don't have to take them to Lv.50 or beyond if you don't want to though.

noo, sorry. I meant it just doesn't happen very often - leveling is so fast that if there is any pvp, it's mainly just a 100 bouncing out of the sky to dick your butt a little bit then leaves again. You don't often get a lot of fighting while leveling. It happens, just not like it used to be.
There are certain zones that are notorious for ganking, but for the most part anything outside of level 100 tanaan jungle is relatively dead pvp wise. And even that is pretty dead except for a few servers (Bleeding Hollow, Emerald Dream, etc).
I guess it also depends on the definition of "dead", so it's a little subjective.
