>get to cabin
>shit ton of villagers coming up the stairs
>tentacle monsters aplenty
>tuck myself in the corner
>they start coming behind me through the windows
Pretty awesome fight. One of the few times I can say a game made me sweat.
RE thread I guess.
the chainsaws were scary
remake is the best
>>344734279
>there are people who skipped that sequence entirely and got the shotgun after the villagers fucked off
Fucking pussies.
>>344735747
I think he's talking about the cabin sequence with Luis. You don't see tentacle monsters at all that early.
>>344735626
who did this? is great
>>344735747
I totally skipped that sequence on my first playtrough, I played with my cousin and when we finished the game and I went to the cutscene visor I discovered that one, I was like DUDE LOOK WHAT WE MISSED

RE4 was, in retrospective, the best RE.
It was campy at times, but not as much as 5 and 6.
Gameplay was quite enjoyable, unlike tank controls in 1-3. Even if it was a escort mission at times, didn't felt like it.
There were QTE, but, while it was one of the first games to do it, did it perfectly.
There were horror moments, unlike full-action like 5 and 6. Damn, I still remember the chainsaw guy, the two chainsaw women and the regenerators. Fucking regenerators.
And, of course, being from Spain, hearing at all times the equivalent of "Behind you idiot" and "Bastard", seeing the currency were "Pesetas" (Which were the country old currency) and the first two cops were "Guardias civiles" (This is, the military cops from the times when a dictator ruled our country) made me chuckle the whole time.
Wish games were made like that again. 2004-2005 was a golden age.
RE 4 has no right being as good as it is
so many things that should be terrible but just aren't
>>344737847
Nice analysis
>>344737847
I'm from Spain too, it's amazing how in our country the game has that added value, very funny.

>RE4 was, in retrospective, the best RE.
aka it was my first so it's the best guise xD
>>344741272
The eletist classicfag strikes again.
>>344741272
Unlike the older games, RE4 still holds up perfectly fine
>>344737847
I really struggle with articulating why RE4's tone works while 5's just feels a bit eh. I think it has something to do with 5's brand of campy melodrama that relies on players caring about the series rather than what is going on in 5 specifically. At the same time, 5 copies 4 a lot in not just mechanics but setpieces as well so it probably depends a lot on which one you play first. That said, 5 is less cohesive compared to 4's (sometimes literal) themepark ride.
>>344742256
>4
>dark, you're alone or together with a helpless girl
>in a place you don't know shit about and can't contact anyone on the outside most of the time
>5
>you can punch hordes of niggers in the face in broad fucking daylight while your partner is just as kickass as you are
gee I don't know anon
>>344742256
Because 5 tried to take it seriously, while 4... Well, just tell me of another game where you go wrestling with spanish zombie cultists directed by a dwarf.
And that's what's so likable. Resident Evil 4 didn't took itself seriously. There were puns all the time. Like a themepark ride, almost everything was memorable in a campy sense. That's why, as >>344741618 said, RE4 still holds up fine.
>>344737847
And correction. Those weren't "Guardia civiles". Checked it and they were just "Policia nacional". If only they had the three-cornered hat...
>>344742758
It didn't take itself seriously but it also tried to retain some horror elements. I always kinda think of it as a video game equivalent of Evil Dead 2 in tone
