Had about 20 hours on NV. I had Boone with me. I went into a casino and had to check weapons. When I leave, Boone's rifle is laying on the ground outside. It can't be picked up, just lays there. Now Boone won't use a weapon. He mimics having a rifle during battle and just stands there with his imaginary rifle pointed at whatever is tearing him a new asshole. Never played again.

I like Veronica because she punches the FUCK out of things while I heave homemade IEDs at enemies. And yeah, I was sad for her during her companion quest. Fucked if she stays, somewhat better off if she leaves, but disillusioned and seemingly full of self hatred because she still thinks she got those Followers murdered.
Still, Veronica as a Follower is badass. She's smart, strong, and has some pretty good working knowledge of tech to fix up their stuff. I'd say she's a valuable addition to them, but that's a goddamn understatement.
And who cares about VAs? So long as they sound good for the role, I can ignore just about anything. Veronica's voice is soothing and cute.

Well, when I say 'take down', I mean that literally, he knocks them to the ground in one or two hits and I or my other companion finish them off.
It's especially handy when he has Rex's brain and gets those 15 extra attack points, just knocks shit down every other attack or straight up kills it. Can do it with deathclaws too though, just straight up murder them. Knock em down and rape them on the ground. It's awesome.
Also I'd recommend either the Assault Carbine or the Light Machine gun for taking down packs of them. Also energy weapons seem to work really well on them.

The best armor is the riot armor from Lonesome Road DLC, which looks identical to that but isn't NCR clothing, and you don't need to kill NCR to get it.

Two ways.
Vet rangers start to appear after the factions get interested in you. You'll find them at NCR outposts.
Otherwise if you're friends with the NCR the colonel at the airport will give you a key to a safehouse where you can find it.
If you have LR you have the best variant and it's non-faction.
