You should play VCS if you haven't, it gives a lot of insight into how extremely fucking insecure Lance is. A big part of why he betrayed Tommy was because of repressed feelings toward his older brother, who treated him even worse than Tommy did.
If you do play it, emulate the PSP version. It runs and even looks way better than the PS2 version, and there's a script available to run it at 60fps. If you use that script, though, make sure to disable it for timed missions because it halves the timer making some missions impossible; I learned that the hard way on Boomshine Blowout.

Yes. They use a different voice actor and if you compare the two directly they'll seem like different people (which lead to speculation that it wasn't actually Vic in VC, but Rockstar confirmed it was) but they are the same person. It's just because he was an extremely small role in VC that was only on screen for like thirty seconds, versus VCS where he's the most important role in the game.
Seriously though, VCS is really fucking good. I'd say out of the 3D GTAs, it's probably right behind SA.

Oh man yeah, I have some PTSD from that. I mentioned Boomshine Blowout before, which I had to retry like ten times because I didn't realize the 60fps hack was making the timer run twice as fast so I literally could not complete it in time, but I had to try that mission even more times because it really does not like being emulated for some reason and the fires would take a shitload longer than they're supposed to to go out.
I came really close to giving up on that mission. I played the PSP version originally so I already knew how the rest of the game went, but I managed to push through it.

I heard years ago that they never did anything else with Tommy because there was bad blood between Rockstar and Liotta, but I found out recently that Liotta was actually cool with them and in fact Burt Reynolds threw the biggest shitfits. If I remember right, they said the way Reynolds treated them is what convinced them to never use big name Hollywood actors ever again, excluding Samuel L. Jackson I guess (although the interview might have been after SA, I can't remember).
I'm sure Tommy is the character more people want to see return than any other, but sadly they seem pretty gung ho on the 3D universe and HD universe being separate.
