It's a man's collectathon. If you haven't played the Banjo games before this then I highly advise you do so - if those games get on your nerves then forget about even acknowledging DK64. On the flipside, if they leave you needing more then DK64 will give you more until you're damn sick of it, with 5 characters' worth of collectibles to find over the course of the game.
Theres a cheat code that lets you switch characters on the fly with L, use it if you can
Cuts down a metric fuck ton of backtracking and makes the game a lot more enjoyable

Only version that works properly until 2.3 releases. Doesn't matter, anyway. CEN64 will blow it out of the water after a year or two. PJ64 will still be hot flying garbage by that time.

Fun game, but don't get too hung up on collecting every single damn thing because you WILL burn out.
There are some notoriously awful levels like Gloomy Galleon, but overall they aren't too annoying.
Enjoy the music. It can ease up some of the game's tedium.
Overall, if you like Rareware-style 3D platformers then you will enjoy DK64.
I love Rare, but this games pretty shitty. Play Conker's BFD instead.
