Yes, I enjoyed Angry Birds The Movie

Postal was pretty good, yeah.

Yeah Jake Gyllenhaal was alright as the prince, the story was a little bit different to the games but I didn't really mind.

gotta say it is seriously underrated. but I mostly agree with everything you said. great concept but not very good delivery
definitely more interesting then every final fantasy game square has made since with exception of final fantasy x

I thought I was crazy.

EVERYTHING looks like it's made out of plastic.

The walls
The armor

The orc arc was literally the only thing that worked. Every time the humans were on screen it was just a long string of paint by numbers script and joyless acting. I actually related more with Durotan, a fucking CGI puppet, than I did with any of the actual humans presented to me.

You should read Fimmel's interview about his experience acting for it. He nearly had a McKellen moment where he was completely frustrated by talking to air and pretending to act. He said this isn't why he got into acting and hated it, "first big movie or not."

Spirits Within is fine as a movie, but it isn't a good video game movie. The FF7 movie is better in that regard.

It was wank. Just a ridiculously convoluted way of telling the same old tired "respect and cherish mother nature" story we've hear a billion times before, except done very poorly and very pretentiously.

I tried to rewatch it myself recently and couldn't make it all the way through.

The problem with video game movies is they keep choosing video games with shit plots to adapt. A video game can have a poor or just alright plot because the gameplay makes up for that. You don't have audience interaction with a movie though, so you need a compelling narrative, which things like Warcraft 1, Resident Evil, Doom etc just don't have.

Video game movies will start being good once they give us adaptations of things like The Witcher, The Last of Us etc. Games with a strong narrative focus.

wreck it ralph was a better vidya movie than warcraft.

spirits within was a good movie but not a good FF.

I hope im not the only one who thinks the half orc chick made no story sense other than sex appeal to the audience. how is she supposed to take orc D without dying if shes a twig?

didn't help that we viewed some actual good movies before watching warcraft either, I was not impressed.

Garona was my least favourite part about the movie.

Maybe also that everyone in Stormwind dresses fine except the general who looks like a hobo the entire movie
>>

>>
>>344685558
>Video game movies will start being good once they give us adaptations of things like The Witcher, The Last of Us etc. Games with a strong narrative focus.

Is that a joke?

The plots aren't the problem, they always change them anyway, it's the execution. They usually get hacks to make them and want them done as quickly and cheaply as possible. That is why video game movies suck.
>>
>>344685798
Impossible to tell a proper Arthas story in just 2h.
>>
>>344685798
they'll probably skip warcraft 2, or just explain it over quickly in the intro (stormwind got rekt by orcs, so the alliance rekt them back)
then they'll start with Thralls story since they literally ended the first movie with him getting found by humans
cant wait for the 6 gorillion orcs in work camps

>>344686042

I would arge about the SIlent Hill movie. While its true the story was a complete mess, they used a lot of references to the games, like camera movement and such. Their implemented monsters and scenarios had proper meaning too.

Also the Street Fighter movie was glorious, move up that shit.

The only part of the Warcraft movie that worked was Gul'dan. Everything else was a never-ending cavalcade of cringe, starting from the miscarriage 2 minutes into the movie with characters we were just introduced to.

There's a few things they could do to make WC2 appealing to the general masses and the casual WC fans.

>Alleria and Turalyon as Tumblr shipping fodder that's at least canon
>Forming of the Silver Hand featuring recognizable names like Tirion and Uther
>Literally everything that happens at Blackrock Mountain
>"These truly are the Tides of Darkness"

What I think is going to be more difficult is fitting in the whole story of Beyond the Dark Portal with Sons of Lothar and their expedition into Draenor. Could they simply allude to it? Would it justify having it's own movie? Would it suffer the same issues that the Hobbit movies did with padding time?

>>
>>344686561
That someone made a shitty image?

Warcraft sure as hell doesn't understand the original game as source material, and it barely manages to understand the rewritten story elements, to the point that details are explained with 'it's an alternate universe so things like flying Dalaran is okay!'. The movie isn't very good either, though at this point I'm willing to believe that's because the live action humans just don't fucking work with it.

>>344687000
This webm actually shows even more of the lack of understanding. Gul'dan was part of the shadow council, evil warlocks who controlled the horde from the shadows and not openly. Why the fuck is Gul'dan openly in any position of power where someone would actually challenge him to an honor duel in the first place?

To me, watching the movie with no overall opinions, I found it to be extremely exhausting to watch and horribly put together.
Here's my 3 major problems.

No character was distinguishable from another outside of physical characteristics. I attempted making an evaluation of their personalities but couldn't find any way to describe any of them. On top of that, as a white dude, all the white dudes in this movie look exactly alike and it's silly that they would do that. On top of that, their REALLY weren't any other races besides showing dwarves in two scenes and some others as slaves???? The world felt so simple, yet nothing was properly explained to those who are learning about Warcraft for the first time

The plotline was there, but what the fuck was the pacing they decided to take? Why not have more development then "I MAY B UR ONLY SON, BUT IM SOLDIER SO THAT MEANS IM GONNA DIE" or some orc women explaining she can speak english because she heard prisoners speak english even though she has an extremely good understanding of the langauge.

The worst issue is the action happens all within the last 15 minutes of the movie, and at that point I just don't give a shit what's going on. had they put the wizard battle somewhere in the middle and moved a few things around it would have been better.

The simplest way they could have solved all these issues was making the plot of the first movie into 2.

Being generous, I'd give this a 5.5/10

>>344695515

The first war (the setting of the movie) had only orcs and humans going at it. Humans of Stormwind got shitstomped hard because they were all alone and formed the Alliance afterwards with other human kingdoms and races. Orcs invaded Azeroth because demons manipulated them after they had done genociding the draenei (who are exile aliens that fled their own demon-infested world with satan on their tails) and subjugating the ogre empires. There shouldn't be ANY races other than orcs, humans, ogres and draenei in any role of any significance.

Honestly, it should be like a 3 hour movie if you want to explain all the built-up lore

I wouldn't have minded that honestly. I'm aware that they took the story of this from the book series (Or I was told they had), but the way the scenes were placed felt really poorly done. I'm hoping the next movie in the series will fix any of the issues of the first, as I see it possible for WoW lore to make an interesting movie.

This COULD have been the best game movie if not for two reasons: that shitty little girl and fucking studio interfering fuckwit who said "a man caring about a lost daughter is unbelievable." We could've had a full movie of Sean Bean as Harry Mason in the best Silent Hill setting possible.

I ain't even mad about Pyramid Head - he's the iconic figure from the series, even if that isn't his story. Maybe have toned down his Darth Vader epic villainy a little and just made him an executioner at the behest of the powers behind the town like the photo in the game's historical society indicated.

But, man, setting Silent Hill in WV (which really is foggy as fuck and abandoned as Hell in parts) and mixing Centralia-style mine fires into the lore... that shit was BRILLIANT.

That's debatable IMO, they hinted at hell during the Doom movie, and the Mario movie to an extent has the Mario theme of taking a bunch of shit that has no connection what-so-ever (Mushrooms, Turtles and Plumbers) and making them work(Dinosaurs, Mad Max settings and Plumbers)

While I didn't really like the reason given for replacing Harry's concerned paternal role with his wife, I don't think that reversing the male and female leads in the film would have automatically improved everything about the plot.

As its own story I was fine with having the mother being the one in the town.

You know, I'm kind of surprised that news on the Mass Effect movie all but disappeared rather than cashing in on the trilogy's hype.

Granted I didn't expect it to be a huge hit, considering that the main appeal was the divergent choices and multiple character arcs that wouldn't translate over into film.

aSoIaF is fuckin dense compared to a lot of other contemporary fantasy. Yes, even the other adult-oriented ones.

It's dense and long but it's not really that hard to get into. Worst offense it makes is to quickly segue back to characters you may have forgotten about if you didn't read the books quickly.

There are definitely some elements of storytelling that only work in the medium that they were conceived.

But I wouldn't completely rule out the inspirations that different mediums have had on each other. Granted things like a good movie-based game or game-based movie is definitely the exception, rather than the rule.

*The Changing Land is a Locus Award nominated fantasy novel written by Roger Zelazny, first published in 1981. The novel resolves the storyline from the various Dilvish, the Damned short stories (collected in 1982 as Dilvish, the Damned.)*

Perfect taste in fantasy my friend,Thraxas and The Forging of the Shadows are awesome too.
