Is there a good way to have a gay side character? If that's their only characteristic, then they are a caricature. However, if it's only brought up in passing, then it feels thrown in for no reason other than easy diversity with no substance. They'd need a lot of development for it to feel sincere, and at that point they wouldn't really be a side character anymore.

you would only have maybe 2 lancers max on the map cause they suck at antipersonnel, you would always have largo on the team because of the command point tacked onto him, and jan gets a buff by being near largo, not to mention that the other lancers had shit tier abilities for that utility. Jan was the mvp of lancers. Same with Marina wolfsten, she was way above the rest of the snipers.

Jann's a joke character, but like >>344657876 and >>344659970 said, he's statistically one of the best characters to use for his class, mainly because of the abilities tacked on to emphasize his joke status (fancies men and largo lover which is unique to him only, so he has an accuracy and damage boost where others just get accuracy). There's other men in VC that have fancies men and the way they're presented isn't anywhere near as flaming flamboyant, just part of their character. Jann is special because for all his beaming I'm gayness he's actually really fucking useful, and if you're on the 'i don't give a shit' on the caring about homosexual representation meter, he's definitely on your go team. Nothing breeds acceptance like being a genuine credit to the team
