I spam my shield button quickly raising and lowering it to let my opponent know I am ready to fight.
I sometimes use a gesture after a fight.
I always bow when i am summoned or invade, if i attack my enemy before bowing, i will stop attacking distance, myself and bow.
I feel like it's a lack of respect when i don't do it.
for summoning bowing is fine as a way to acknowledge you're ready

Bowing is a way for players to weed out essentially a shitposter, once they don't bow you know they are going to be completely awful at the game and try to heal as much as possible. But by the time DaS3 was released, the community was so anal about "bow before every fight" and "no healing" that people had to be reminded that expecting to be treated "fairly" by the guy who invaded you looking to kill you in anyway or the poor guy you invaded who's just trying to finish the level is stupid.

There really is nothing like it. Most fun I had in DS3 was getting invaded while playing with my friends and making peace with the guys who came.
We held a mini joke fight club where we fist fought and healed eachother and everything.
None of us used voice chat or anything. It was really great.
I don't understand why I should bow. I thought that bowing was an agreement to not heal but every person that bows still heals. I'll just take make the first strike when others bow because I'm already bad at the game and probably under leveled anyway. I don't really win invasions to begin with.

I don't bow or shit before fighting. I just give them about 2-5 seconds to do their gesture or buff, then just go in for the kills.

It's up to them if they go for an "easy" kill and chug estus or pop other heals, I guess. Hard enough finding nice people to invade without getting ganked anyway
As for bowing, shield spamming or emoting in general I don't bother with it. Probably makes me look pretentious but whatever. If an invader gets ganked because I happen to have summons I like to drop an I'M SORRY carving though

As far as I'm concerned, the only situation this applies to is if you summon somebody's red sign for a duel, because that's unquestionably a dick move if you summon somebody like that and then don't even TRY to follow any sort of etiquette. Otherwise, it's straight to business and no dicking around because either I'm there to either invade you or defend myself from an invasion.
