I just beat this boss with a summon. I have beat every other boss--including blue smelter--on my own so far, and for some reason I wasn't thinking straight after twenty attempts at the Fume Knight and summoned. I feel like a fucking pleb

I fought this guy over a hundred times before I managed to kill it solo. It was real boss.
But don't feel bead about it. The way I know, if you use a summon then he gets 100% more health and resistance for every phantom.

I played the entire game two-handing axes and hammers and I had to take out my Gyrm Greatshield while fighting him.
I don't feel good about it.

Red Tearstone ring.
Denial.
A fast, powerful weapon.
Dodge everything.

I actually can't beat Fume Knight with a summon; first time I beat him first try on my Dex/Hex Scythe build; second time I was pure Sorcery and I just had to keep throwing myself at him because my phantoms were fucking dullards. Like why even put your sign down if you haven't practiced dodging the boss?
That said, never feel bad for summoning. Ever. Unless you're doing a challenge or something for some retarded reason, but there are some bosses that are explicitly intended for summoned help.
