10 years of development. This thing was supposed to be FF13-Versus. FF13 was released in 2009.
Square is busting out the FF7 remake and re-using FF15 assets and engine. That is a real show of desperation. They know that is the only way they can make money on this thing.

It looks boring. Open world games are utterly a snoozefest. And the combat looks like easymode button mashing. World and art style are an awful mix of realism, with absurd fantasy shit. Nothing in it works well.

It's funny the people think KG is expensive to make, when all the character models are 1-1 to all the actors. Visual-works just has a really fucking good CG engine that cuts costs, something similar to Naughty Dogs games. It was also published by Sony division-6 or something. They handle low budget films that range from $10mil - $20mil.

But that's wrong. Not only is 7R on a completely different engine it's not using the same assets either.
7R is being made because they wanted to make it now before Nomura, Kitase and Nojima get too old.
XV started full development with it's current budget only in 2012. Everything before that was barely even anything and it wasn't active either, plus it's all already written off.
