Lot's of fun, better if you can find people online to play with. Got a few hundred hours out of it.
Once you get past the tutorial/intro part and unlock all the stages you can skip it on new characters, and you can auto-complete any quests you've already done on new characters too if you want to try out new classes after sinking some time into it.
Every character is good and capable of clearing everything so just play whatever you like. You can get respec potions later on so don't worry about what you dip points into early on, with the exception of the Deep Pockets skill that increases your inventory space. That one will not get refunded.
Once you get to the final difficulty you can find a lot of gear that drastically changes how you play. Ended up with gear that made my Wizard's spells instant cast and refund on use so he just turned into a Meteor Storm machine, that was fun.
Also, Amazon is best.
I assume that guy is one of those "I play games 12 hours a day" guys.
It is a good game but not in large doses.

Couch co-op is a lot of fun but early on in this game downtime between stages can be kind of annoying as every player has to turn in quests, spend skill points, and manage inventory one at a time.

Amazon is objectively the best class but I got the most enjoyment from lighting up the entire screen as the wizard. You will get sick of seeing the same dungeons as you have to replay the same ones literally half a dozen times to beat the game, but once you unlock the LoC the areas combine into some entertaining and unpredictable fun. Co-op is a must for maximum entertainment, but solo play can be very rewarding as well as it completely changes the way you have to approach the game.

I don't think you can get screwed. At worst you just get bad loot, but usually you get at least something usuable, even more since you usually level up and thus the gear you get is higher level as well.
If you're talking in terms of having to appraise them, the sell/appraise prices tell you the best items. Good stuff always costs more than bad stuff, though that doesn't work if you're looking for a specific ability (dealing more damage to dragons, etc).
And also, this is after the first 9 levels if you haven't gotten through them yet, but you can keep going with your journey, doing many levels in a row, and the more you do, the better the loot you get. There's even some prayers you can do to get better loot, if I remember right.

There's only one trophy for Ranks and it just requires getting an S rank in an entire area for all the battle areas, mid-boss fights, etc. Bosses you fight at the end of chapters aren't ranked.
Ranks for areas matter less than you may think and the tutorial one doesn't count for anything.

It's really not worth all the points you need to put into it to get to max level, though, since her kick dps is still bad, even more so compared to other classes. I'd guess some people go with it because Elf is a bit weird to play at first since you're only really meant to use the kick when you're out of arrows (and mostly because kicking enemies gives you more arrows), so they may see the skill and think you're just meant to use kick and level that skill up. In the end though it's most likely the worst build in the game.

If you run out of arrows, thats when you get out your holdout dagger + 300% backstab damage + 50% no weapon degradation and go to town. There is not much excuse for a kicking elf.
