The selling point of the game is that it's big as fuck and the planets are single-biome only, so staying on one is pointless. There's no base-building so there's no reason to settle down anywhere. They'll play for a while and then split up, because there's no way you can convince at least two others minds to play exactly when you do and to go exactly where you want to go.

Reasons this game looks bad:
1. Space combat looks bad.
2. Shoot beam gun at space crystal to mine space plutonium to make space skeleton keys is the most exciting gameplay reveal we've been shown.
3. No multiplayer.
4.Basically nothing but a giant sandbox in which you can't really do much of anything except trade for the materials you need to get a different ship model or more space skeleton keys.
When someone points out that there's basically no gameplay, the response is "durr I just want to explore!"
When it's then pointed out that you can simply download Space Engine for free and get the same incredible ability to explore a billion procedurally generated space objects, the response is "durr you can't mine space plutonium crystals to make space skeleton keys."
This game will definitely be a commercial success. This game will definitely get some good critical reviews. This game will also definitely be forgotten in three weeks, just like Spore and Starbound. It doesn't even have the appeal of intricate space dogfighting to keep a hardcore group of in-denial shitters around for years like Elite: Dangerous does.

As expected. Its not gibberish, every alien in a species will have the same dialect. Tablets are just 1 method of figuring out a small part of what they say. Their behaviors will suggest what type of alien they are (military, traders, science, ect), which you can also tell from the ships they fly. A particularly friendly alien might even try to teach you some of their words, so you'll have to use a combination of the right gestures as well as what little bits of their language you know to get what you want. If you fail you risk pissing off an entire alien race and if you succeed you can get access to all sorts of things like new weapons, ships, information, resources. If you really make them happy you can even summon them as wingmen to assist you in fights.

That's wrong though, they've been unclear about multiplayer, true, but they've been repeating that this is an extremely minor part of the game and that for most people it'll just amount to see what others discovered.
They answer others gameplay questions as you'd expect devs to asnwer them, except stuff like "Is there _____ in the game" because they still want people to figure shit out.
