As a general rule of thumb if a game is shitposted constantly before release and it quickly subsides in the immediate aftermath the game is generally acceptable.
Uncharted 4 wasn't really hyped that much here. There's a lot of mainstream advertising but i dont feel there was enough hype to justify massive backlash.
Not to mention who didn't know what they were getting with Uncharted 4? A pretty looking cover based third person shooter with climbing and over the top set pieces.

Gameplay is the same as the previous titles and nothing great but the story was phenomenal.
The game didn't have longevity because the multiplayer is mediocre and story based games are slowly becoming a niche market.
If a game doesn't have addictive online multiplayer that keeps bringing people back, then it is forgotten within a month after release.

Because these days they're made for money rather than creativity. You never see anything new being developed that doesn't net a huge profit. Not to say that isn't an obvious reason to make more of you know they're going to sell, but the reason people are so quick to hesitate to play older games in this day and age is because they compare it to the shit we have now. You can't think of "multiplayer only" games. You need to look at games that are online multiplayer focused with bullshit half-assed stories like the CoD.
The most popular games are focused on online multiplayer with mediocre stories/single player campaigns.
