>Game prides itself on being "realistic"
>You die immediately from one shot

How is this even acceptable?
>>
Assuming you're getting shot by a rifle, then yes, this is entirely realistic.
>>
>>344526376
RO2/RS does this pretty good.
Get shot in the head, you die. Get shot in the leg, you apply a bandage and continue on your way. Or don't and bleed to death

We just had this fucking thread you stupid turkroach.
>>
>>344526376
Incapacitation is treated as death as triage and aid mechanics would be used too scarcely by players to be worth implementing.

You get shot and as a result are out of the battle, perhaps an imaginary medic removes you from the battlefield and treats your wound if it isn't fatal before sending you home to recover over a number of imaginary months after which you are imaginarily discharged.

Or it is fatal and you just die on the spot.
>>
>>344526423
No.
>>
Why would you post this again, retard
>>
>>344526993

m8 even with modern Kevlar armor getting a 5.56 to the chest is almost always fatal - not even speaking of the heavier and harder-hitting rounds that were universal in the past.
>>
>>344527134
5.56 is pussy shit. maybe 7.62 would do the job.
>>
>>344527628

Say this on /k/, I dare you
>>
>>344527628
And drop us a link to the thread. I want to see this. I riled them up on gun control and the mods kick you and tell you to fuck off to /pol/, let's see how you can make your mark

I will absolutely never get sick of this joke.
>>
>>344527676
i have one of those bullets, the cap is barely larger than pistol ammunition. i don't see how that could kill anyone instantly unless it hit them in the forehead.

>Hit major artery
>BLEED OUT

>ACCIDENTALLY TURN ON CAPS LOCK
>BLEED OUY

>Hit stomach
>Deadly ulcer

>Hit colon or intestines or whatever
>Fecal matter causes infection so you bleed out or bleed, get weak, die of an infection

>Get shot
>Panic and have a heart attack

>Get shot in heart
>Penetrated, or impact to armor causes heart to stop and die

>Hit lung(s)
>Lungs fill with fluid and you drown/bleed out/suffocate

I could go on...
>>
>>344528254
>ACCIDENTALLY TURN ON CAPS LOCK
>BLEED OUY

Not cool man, my brother passed that way.
>>
>>344526572
you mean the 2002 game operation flashpoint where you can only crawl after getting shot, right? RO and any other wannabe realistic shooter is garbage
>>
>>344528136
read Black Hawk Down, the Delta operator talks about how people can run away after being shot with the 5.56 NATO rounds. and the people they were shooting were wearing street clothes.
>>
>>344528327
I'm sorry, my dad bled ouy too, couldn't get a transfusion in time, no ouy negative
fuck my typos

>>
>>344526376
Even if you don't die in one shot you'll be incapacitated in one shot.
>>
>>344528038
Velocity and fragmentation do wonders. When achieving proper muzzle velocity, 5.56 has horrendous wounds.
>>
>>344528373
it's just adrenaline, they run a bit like a headless chicken and die shortly after due to internal damage
>>
>>344528373
Battle lore. Soldiers always try to justify poor aim.
>>
>>344529473
he talks about how sometimes they didn't realize they had been shot until they shot him a second time, and their ability to continue fighting after.

>>344529539
that's a good joke, but Delta operators can hit a moving target while sitting in a helicopter.
>>
>>344528354
Actually you can crouch, stand and run with a leg wound in OFP, but you'll automatically go back to prone when you start moving, you can do a crude version of the worm to move faster, or just equip a rocket launcher which only allows crouched movement
>>
>>344527676
>>344527628
5.56 / 223 wasn't even designed to kill people you flaming faggot. it was designed to maim. 7.62x39 is a heavier bullet and designed to kill anything in its path which is why the AK was preferred around the world and not the m16
>>
>>344529948

>it was designed to maim

This can't be real, right?
It was designed to be lighter in weight while also carrying roughly equivalent punch to the 7.62 - the only reason the 7.62 is popular in shithole perpetual-civil-war countries is because the Soviets mass-produced the absolute fuck out of the AK-47 and its ammo
>>
>>344529948

Maim or kill doesn't make a difference. A soldier critically wounded is a greater burden for the opposing side than a soldier killed.

A wounded soldier has to be retrieved from the battlefield which takes out more than one man out of combat. Medical costs of thousands of wounded soldiers stack up very quickly. In addition, such a man will likely never be able to be a useful combatant.
>>
It's because crawling around while you slowly bleed to death wouldn't be particularly entertaining.
>>
>>344530342
ask a soldier in the middle of a battle which he would rather have. he would rather have the round that kills. if you hit someone's limb with a 5.56 round they might still kill you. hit it with a 7.62 round and they're going to be writhing on the ground in pain.
>>
>>344528373
>>344529539
>>344529706

hey, i remember that. it was because the bullets were fmj tipped or whatever, basically they passed right through the somalis who were wearing some cloth or whatever
>>
>>344530594
right, and there was another operator who used a Vietnam era M14 for that reason. more recoil, but more stopping power.
>>
>>344530510
You're retarded
>>
>>344531037
right, right. makes sense to me, bullet lodging in other guy = more force, greater change in kinetic energy

>thank you physics 101

So guys, I see you are all very knowledgeable and I have to ask:

Bren or Spandau?
>>
>>344526376
entirely dependent on the caliber, muzzle velocity, bullet engineering, and trauma location
>>
>>344531053
no i'm not. when you're in the middle of a battle you're not thinking of what's going to benefit the commanders back at base, you're thinking of what's going to keep your sorry ass alive.
