Should I just Kill Myself?

I built a new PC a week ago and I honestly think that a High speed internet is absolutely mandatory.
>>
jesus christ are you poor?
>>
>>344523794
>>344523930

>tfw that's almost triple my speed

I live out in the country and it's pretty shitty but I survive on 300kb/s just fine.
>>
>>344523794
>My internet speed is worse
JUST
>>
>>344524017
how?
>>
>>344523794
slow is under 250
>>
That's almost exactly my speed, OP, don't worry about it. Just leave your computer on overnight, it's fine.
>>
>>344523794
I live in Adelaide and have 300kb/s

Just get big games on console.
>>
Is high speed internet mandatory for gaming though?

You can leave your downloads overnight if that's your main problem. Ping isn't too bad if you're playing on Aus servers. Yeah, I'm trying to justify living in Australia, everything else is nice.
>>
>>344523794
Damn OP we share exactly the same speeds, hang in there.
>>
>>344523794

Be thankful you have atleast 1MB/s. I've been dealing with 300kb/s for a while now.
>>
If you live in Australia that's actually reasonably quick if you aren't in an NBN area/middle of a big city
>>
800kb/s is my peak speeds, if I want to download a big game I just leave it running overnight, not hard.
>>
>>344523794
I have 10/1 and steam peaks at 1.2

it's the fastest possible thing I can get where I live

OP here, I have 13 down/1 up. 1mb is all I get probably because Im on Israel servers.

>3rd world countries have faster internet than us

And the fucking liberals won today no NBN thanks to you stupid /pol/ faggots
>>
>tfw peak DL speed is 1.8 megabytes a second

Although it generally works to just start a download just as you're falling asleep.
>>
>>344524624

seeing as he's connecting to the Tallinn server, probably estonia lol
>>
>>344523794
>that speed
i consider that a good speed for downloading
consider yourself lucky that you can get something better
>>
My friend lives out in the country, and he gets 300 kb/s, and he would otherwise have to pay more than 5k to get a wire put in. He is making it work I guess.

one day my internet will be upgraded to something that is already outdated
>>
>>344524851
Anyone know what kind of speeds people with this are getting?
>>
>>344523794

Fucking relax you gaygot. That's not bad at all. If it were below 1mbps then maybe, MAYBE I'd consider it something of a bother.
>>
>>344524907

I knew a few people with NBN. It's still quite expensive but they download anywhere ranging around about 4mb/s to 10mb/s. Depends on how much you pay.
>>
>>344523930

In London, there's a lot of old infrastructure that only has copper connections. Meaning a max of around 11Mb down/1Mb up. That's around 800KB/s down and 70KB/s up.

>>344523794

Plex server for the family, uploading uni work to Google drive, collaboration with classmates.
No reason why it shouldn't be symmetrical, just Telstra being greedy Jews.

i have a fraction of that and i play online games fine - even ones with P2P connections like Street Fighter or something

how is that not enough?

If your speed is that low, you should probably spread it out over a few days anyway.

Well I guess I'll skip on Doom for now. It's mostly because of Denuvo though, but I don't want to uninstall the games I bought during the steam sale just to install Doom.

How is it possible that internet in first world countries is so bad. I live in kurwa land and I have download of 15 megabytes per second as most people here

>>
who TPG here?
>>
>>344523794
Yeah game sizes have been getting out of hand the last 2 or so years. It seems like Devs don´t care any more to optimize a game (performance and file size).
Recently updated to 50Mbit/s so I don´t notice it as much anymore then when I still had 16Mbit/s but it´s still bullshit

Shit, at that point, I probably just go buy the disc instead and have it added to steam. Fortunately, I get 10 mb/s down in steam regularly, but still. ..
>>
>>344529393

Doom physical version doesn't have the data on the disc
>>
>>344523930

I only have phoneline internet cause this is an old city, I have the exact same problem as OP. Had I lived in a house on the other side of the crossing down the road I would have cable and everything. Al though Steam peaks higher for me than OP, online gaming is such a bitch. But I might move next year anyways, hopefully there is a better connection setup.

Holy fucking shit. My 56k back in 1996 was legit faster than that.

this thread is fucking stupid, your internet isn't slow and 46GB is a fucking lot.

don't diss PC gaming unnecessarily.
>>
>>344528928
Burgerstan is a third world shit hole so that doesn't mean much.
>>
>>344529848
Wow. I never realized just how 3rd the 3rd world was. I get 7 megs/s (60 mbps) dl here and that's pretty average.
>>
>>344530765
third world usually has better internet than first world
>>
>>344524691
That's because there's no one in those countries. The fewer the constituency, the higher the individual customer internet speed. It's based on population density. When you live in a state that has 10x-20x the population of some countries and you get internet speeds of 100mbps, that is an insanely good service.
>>
>>344530884
That's only true of select European countries. This is not true of SEA, South America, Africa, the Caribbean, etc.
>>
>>344523794
I get 18 MB/s down and this post makes me cringe to look at, i feel for you little buddy.
>>
>>344524163
Italian guy here.
I live in a small village in the countryside, money can't buy any fiber here, there's just shitty copper and it doesn't work properly from 7 am until 11 pm.
I still somehow manage to play videogames and download to a max speed of 600 kb/s if I'm lucky, but it's so limiting.
Living in a second world country with third world internet isn't nice, but it's not like everyone got a choice.
>>
Playing Doom is literally virtue-signalling in gaming. The only reason why anyone plays the new Doom or any of the other Doom games is to be able to brag about how old and mature they are.
>>
>>344532000
It's literally the only good singleplayer fps released in the last 10 years though
