The thing is the 1070/1080 both suck at dx12 due to lack of async, but amds older (and even 480 cards) are having huge performance boost if there's dx12. I'd say wait for a 490x, although a 1070 will max just about anything in 1080p for the next two years.

Is Asus Strix GTX 960 4gb a good upgrade to my 660? I realize there's 1060 coming out but I have a FX6300 so I can't upgrade that shit anytime soon and I don't want to get bottlenecked and I could get a really good deal for the 960.

There's literally never been a reason to buy the 960, the 380X has shown itself to be consistently better. And with the 480 out and the 1060 coming out the 960 has been completely deprecated.
