Corypheus is a bad guy human/darkspawn mage from one of the dlc. That is the most relevant development in DA2. Bioware is very shit with adding key plot elements to DLC.
Also mages and templars go to war with each other.

Nothing. Game has extensive codex you can read up on. Although, starting with DAI is a bad call because you'll just get overloaded with bullshit terminology you have no context for because it's forced down your throat. Only for it to not be relevant at all for the story because it's so simple.

What pisses me off the most about DAI's story is that its premise was completely unnecessary. I mean, in a world that just went completely out of balance as mages seek Independence and templars ain't having it, where Qunari are possibly considering an invasion over this and using the Kirkwall incident as an excuse to cleanse all infidels, with Anderfels' Grey Wardens growing more despotic and only other sizeable contingent existing in Orlais, not to mention Tevinter Imperium doing god knows.... what does Bioware do? Oh you know, ancient evil awakens and wants to take over the world. Why are they so creatively bankrupt when it comes to making use of their OWN settings?

I agree, elves in general look slightly uncanny in II, and I think they wanted her to look a little spooky.
I like her character, though, it might be a bit more subtle than some of the other characters but Daisy's still a bit more clever and rounded as a character than most people seem to realise - like romancing her as a friend, for example.
All that blood magic probably doesn't help, though.

because da2 was fundamentally brought down by deadlines which fed into other problems like recycling locations, another wave mechanic, etc. it's full of shortcuts and THAT is why the game suffered. inquisition has no such excuse and was just poorly put together by a team that was driven by the open world craze.

aside from the companion/council quests, and most of the region unique quests, like uncovering ruins in this hissing wastes or whatever. Although the best part of those is party comments, or the trails you get out of several of them, like the tribals or whatthaveyou.

The whole ride up there you're like "these poor, oppressed mages are just trying to escape the tyranny of the templars, I gotta help them!" You get there and the Templar assigned to hunt them down even says "Ohhhhh now Hawke please don't hurt'em, they're just scared, they're not bad people!"
And then you get there and they're like "GAS THE TEMPLARS MAGE WAR NOW, KILL THE TEMPLAR OUTSIDE, SLIT HIS THROAT, DRINK THE BLOOD, SALT HIS GRAVE"

None of your DA2 choices really matter beyond some Inquisitor table side quests, you even get to make your hawke when they show up in game.
Info wise, Anders loses his shit and goes full Taliban, blowing up the Chantry and Reverend Mother in Kirkwall. This causes the mages and Templars to go into full civil war, which spreads to the rest of Thedas. Ironically, it turns out the Templars were right - all the Kirkwall mages immediately start spewing blood magic and demons. Also the head Templar bitch gets huffed up on red lyrium and turns into a giant monster.
Choices in the Coryphaeus dlc are becaude hes tje villain in inquisition even if you kill him in da2. No they do not explain how he comes back or escapes the prison.
You literally do not need to play 2 at all with the tapestry system

I don't think you understand. LITERALLY every mage you meet in DA2 is a blood mage. The only exceptions are possibly a Mage Hawke, Bethany, and that's really just about it. Even the Headmaster knowingly aided a blood mage serial killer and was fully aware of what he was doing and covered it up for little more than "I can't let Meredith think she's right." Anders (the Warden character from DAO:Awakening) goes mental and bombs the Kirkwall Chantry, killing the Revered Mother (the local Chantry leader) and a bunch of civilians inside; the Templars decide they'll slaughter every mage in Kirkwall in response and so the mages reveal they're (almost) all actually blood mages. Hawke decides who comes out on top of the pile of bodies.

That anon was talking about subtext/background in both Origins and II that the Grey Wardens of the Anderfels (where they're headquartered and where the First Warden commands from) have decided to essentially subsume the regular government of the Anderfels.
Like all good Bioware foreshadowing, it comes to absolutely nothing, so just ignore it.

Even if you restrict this to 'every Circle mage', it's still not /quite/ true - most of the named characters are, sure, but that's mainly because they're villains or otherwise involved in quests; and it's suggested repeatedly through the game that the situation in Kirkwall (both mages having their backs to the wall and the wholeImperial angle)is encouraging Mages who aren't using blood magic at the start of the game to fall into it later on.
Yes, rot goes all the way to Orsino, the smarmy fucker; but there's plenty of innocent mages in the Circle you simply don't see because... they're in the Circle, kids and all. Regardless, it doesn't make Meredith's actions of invoking the Right for the actions of an apostate any better.

on the way your sibling dies, you lose your mother to a serial killer eventually and over the years you build up a reputation and become the "champion" of kirkwall, paying back Flemeth reveals that she survives regardless of what happened in the first game
Boss Templar is a massive bitch and treats the mages like shit, mages get desperate and try shit like escape attempts and turn to blood magic, becomes an even bigger bitch thinking this method works
Anders with a spirit inside him (from DA Awakening) goes apeshit and blows up the chantry starting a war between the mages and templars
Hawke steps in and sorts them all out but events are set in motion to trigger the inquisition to show up and try to find out what happened, Hawke has gone Awol and Varric refuses to tell them where.
in the DLC you find out who you father is and the work he was doing with the Grey Wardens in maintaing a seal for some ancient evil fuck, the seal breaks and Corypheus breaks out, you beat the shit out of him and "kill" him

Their romances are really different, though - Daisy starts crushing on Hawke from the moment you meet her if you're nice to her, and you get a really sweet romance full of cuteness and helping her with being shunned by her clan (and basically everyone); as fem Hawke it's even sweeterbecause she has an extra scene where she's really emotional about not being as beautiful or strong as you, and it's just cute
Isabela meanwhile is terrified of commitment, so you get a sexier seductress romance but then she freaks out after having sex with you the first time and keeps insisting that's it's just casual so she doesn't properly get together exclusively with you until late in the game.Both romances are nice, but Daisy a best

No, I don't - otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation. That said, I can /understand/ why she did it, I just don't think she was justified. The conclusion I drew from the game was that the Grand Cleric had continually refused to grant her the Right, and that after her death Meredith still had neither the sanction nor the justification for invoking it - yes, I'm aware that it's mentioned in the Codex that rights of annulment have been granted after the fact before, but the whole idea is that it's a last resort when literally the entire Circle is beyond being saved (which isn't the case, as a Mage ending proves)
Invoking the Right is as much a politically expedient one (to show Kirkwall that the Templars - that is, Meredith - are still in control and will keep them safe) and motivated by her red lyrium paranoia (hence her desire to murder Hawke no matter the ending, even over the objections of her other Templars) as it is one prompted by the outrage of the situation.This is all just personal preference, really. Neither side is completely right.

I'd definitely recommend watching all the cutscenes on Youtube, and having a look at some of her party banters as well; it's a really cute romance. The characters really are the best part of the game, and why I love it so much - they really feel like genuine characters who all get along (more or less) with each other and Hawke, and it's a far more personal story than Origins. Make sure you watch the Friend romance, though, it's infinitely better.
If you want to give the game another go, I think dual-wield rogue is probably the most fun way to play - as long as you're not playing on Nightmare, it's pretty easy to build yourself so you just tear through everything.

The Mages progressively become more worrying to the Templars because of their ability to easily become possessed by demons and in return become much too powerful to control. A war starts between the Mages and Templars and Hawkeye (the PC) has to choose a side. I can't really agree to that. ME1's cast did a wonderful job of providing perspective on the galaxy through the eyes of people from different parts of that society. The only thing ME2 really did was show how different people coped with the MC missing and Mordin's input on the genophage. Everything else delved into parenting and gangs.

I found DA2 more enjoyable than Origins to be completely honest. Hawke was a better character than the warden, the quests were more fun and companions a bit more varied (if the majority were dicks that you wanted to shoot within moments)
But it had a couple of glaring issues.
a) the city barely changes over 20 years
b) painful reusal of locations. There's 6 at most.
c) enemy spawning mechanic (usually 3 waves in all directions) means that positioning of your group is completely irrelevant which in turn means that warriors are almost useless as they can't stop enemy damage dealers from damaging you.
Which in turns means your ideal early game composition is mage heavy (as they do respectable AoE until about after 2/3rds of the game) and late game composition being rogue heavy as they do high single target damage.
The DLCs also apparently brought in a lot of plot points, but I've never owned those so I don't know.
Origins then had a lot of very flat quests and your composition had to rely almost exclusively on mage AoE - cones of cold and similar to drop the relatively constant enemy pressure.
