I just beat this. Was really impressed. But I feel like I missed a lot of the story. Like why that one guy kept forcing choices on you and the after credits scene.

Buzzo was Lisa's boyfriend. He needs someone to blame for Lisa's death, so he directs his anger towards Brad. Lisa made Buzzo cut off her arm with a buzzsaw (after-credits scene), giving him his nickname, and his drive to cut off Brad's arms.
I enjoyed The Joyful. The fighting isn't as great, but the world is cool, and there's a ton of exposition that might explain more things you're curious about. Once you've finished that, the wiki is safe to browse if you have any more questions about the story.
Is there a way to lower the ammount of random encounters? I feel like every 4th step I take I get to fight some random dumb goon.

Joyful's shorter and poorer for its lack of party members, but it's still pretty good. It gives closure on the main game's story, so I'd say you should definetly play it.

It's a steep learning curve, get 250 mags to pay off the border guards. That's how you get to keep your big blade so you have an advantage. You do the WASD thing with buddy like with brad, you get the best attack at level 23. The character design is great, just don't go bottom up. Start 2nd lowest, 3rd lowest and then do the bottom. Big grape's men will ass rape you, with 6 attackers in one turn
Should i start with LISA:THE FIRST or the PAINFUL?

I recommend starting with the first. It's shorter than Painful, and helps you understand Brad's past. There is one segment that is a total pain in the ass, so if you can't get past it, just look at a walkthough on youtube.

It goes overboard with the edginess. Buddy acts like a complete turbocunt the whole time for no real reason. Despite being the final entry in Lisa, the ending leaves much to be desired. The balance was horrifically bad, it basically forced you to use Joy, which then made it far too easy. There's no party members except Rando who disappears after a while.
Overall, it just wasn't as good as the Painful. It's not horrifically bad, but it deserved to have been so much better. Felt like Dingaling got too invested with a certain release date and rushed it. Music is top notch, though. There wasn't a single bad track through the whole game.

Some people think it could have been better if Ding had more time to work on it. Sindy was originally supposed to be dead, with the cultists being the actual boss fight, Ding didn't change it so Sindy was alive and fightable until shortly before releasing the game.
The original Lisa the Painful was also a lot different than the final product(Buddy didn't get kidnapped, Sticky Cheeks and Rick were party members, Rando was also a party member with a normal face, Brad's class originally changed from Nobody toSomebodyinstead of Failure, there are unused sprites of Buddy smiling after the claw guy fucked her face up, etc.)
