Max Payne 3 is a game that not only demands that you pull off headshot after headshot, but is also probably the only third-person shooter out there that genuinly provides you with the means of doing so. The previous Max Payne games really weren't designed that way. And even among the original Max Payne games, Max Payne 2 is far superior in every way.
What I'm saying is that Max Payne 3 and Vanquish are totally different kinds of games, and you getting mad at people preferring one ever the other just makes you look comical.
In fact, I remember you making a thread like this and getting similarly pissed off a few years ago.
I know you all shit on it to be contrarian, but TLoU is easily the best TPS/Stealth action game.

Except Max Payne 1 was more than just headshot after headshot. It was a dance where you did a lot of strafing, zig zagging, switching between targets for stun, dodge rolling, switching between weapons all the time and using the environment. Max Payne 3's focus on nothing but headshots and the overpowered slow mo makes the entire game feel like a really boring on rails shooter, and the movement is sluggish and awkward. That's not even getting into the piss poor level design. Also no idea what you're talking about, I haven't even played Vanquish and said nothing about it.

To those saying Lost Planet, while I like LP more then Vanquish, they aren't as good overall.
Vanquish biggest problem is that it just feels like there could have been a little more, mainly a sequel would have been amazing. Otherwise start to end it is incredible.
LP1 problem is the second half is horribly balanced. And LP2 has moments in the game that without a good team, can be an annoying nightmare to play.tfw no vanquish 2, or real Lost Planet 3 ;-;

Like I said before, it's just missing that little something. Something that would have been fixed in a sequel. One has to remember something like Vanquish gameplay wise had not really been done before, normally a first entry in a new style of genre tends to be a little bare. Like compare DMC1 to 3.
So I would say it was probably budget and time, they chose quality over quantity.

Bayonetta is a lesser example because it builds upon a strong foundation of NG and DMC3 while adding it's own dodge offset mechanic
W101 is a strong example of how Kamiya rehauled the entire foundation of the genre he himself started. W101 ditches complex attack strings of Bayo and even DMC and goes back to basics with just one melee button, one attack string and provides variety by giving instant access to dozen of weapons all at once and in combinations.
if you count Clover -- Viewtiful Joe is on it's own level -- which is especially impressive because it is such an original work RIGHT after DMC1 which is a seminal genre starter
