If you just want the Platnium trophy you litterally never have to grind for materials, ever.
If you fully explore all of the main game, and clear out all the side areas in dungeons you have exactly enough to make every dungeon up to Queen Yharnam.
If you have PS+ you can cheat and just join other dungeons made by other people and loot early stuff from chests over and over instead of going through hard rooms to get the items. I plat'd the game without PS+ (so I had to make every single dungeon I ever entered with my own materials) and I never once needed to go farm for more. Bastards of Loran and Red Jelly are the biggest roadblocks and there are exactly enough in Loran/Isz chalices to complete the final chalice.
Farming is only ever required if you want to keep making new random dungeons.
