I'm picking it up, OP. I might actually pass on Monster Hunter Generations, despite being a series stalwart. I'm just getting tired of Capcom ignoring so many little quality of life improvements or other general fixes. Each new game, you can basically just expect a different batch of monsters, and complete weapon imbalance fuckery as usual.
Meanwhile, something genuinely nice like just making it possible to make one piece of armor look like another so you can fucking clownsuit without actually looking retarded will never happen. For that matter, clownsuiting will never, ever go away as the optimal thing to do, nor will utterly worthless armor sets/weapons that have no use but to work as a stopgap measure, or literally fool people who just don't know any better into wasting their time with them.
Shit just boils my ass that it's been this long and they just don't ever strive to actually improve the experience any more than the absolute minimum amount, usually while taking other things OUT of the formula.
I went off on a tangent. I'm looking forward to the game because we've never officially gotten a 7th Dragon game, and I'd like to see more, however unlikely. Got to have something to scratch the itch while we all wait for Etrian Odyssey 5, and my 3DS rarely gets booted up besides.

From what I hear this is the easiest to break in the series by far because some of the classes are really broken. I haven't played this one myself to verify.
As for continuity, this is basically the overarching story's grand finale, but the game is supposed to explain anything you need to know. But you might not get the full of it if you haven't played the past games. If you want, the original 7th Dragon on DS and 2020 on PSP have translation patches.

I don't believe it impedes anything as this one is completely stand alone. I've played the first 2020 on PSP and it's not grindy at all, in fact it's very easy if anything.
Group dynamic is there, but I didn't feel it was AS fleshed out as say, EO, but it's good enough.

At max level, you sacrifice 70% of your current HP to deal magic damage to one target, with damage increasing for how much HP you sacrificed, but the scaling is retarded so using it at full health will deal something like 8k damage on a crit.

The game is really easy, and you'll finish it in a little over 20 hours. Not worth it, and from what it looks like, this is the last game in the series(both it feeling like a "finale", and the fact that imagepoch is ded)
