It was a far cry from what I wanted from a RE game, but I actually enjoy the hell out of the co-op, even if it makes any game not scary. Me and my best friend played a lot of it, raged at the hardest difficulty, etc. Met and chatted with a couple cool people doing random matchmaking too, so I have some good memories of my time with that game. I'll be honest. It starts pretty bad, very very michael bay-ish and it stays that way mostly.
The issue story-wise is that it tries going for the serious route but it's VERY hard to not roll your eyes if you dont shut your brain off during the cutscenes. There is a lot of bullshit that goes on. Your ability to suspend disbelief will be tested to the extreme.
That said, Piers' death was a tearjerker. That entire last section was so well done.
Gameplay-wise... no gun upgrading is a huge downside for me. Makes it a lot more arcade-y. There are character skills though but it doesn't scratch that itch where you could see your equipment getting gradually stronger as in RE4.
Other than that it is a solid action game. Grab it on a sale.

Dismissing 5 like that makes me think you're doing so just to shine favor on 6. I recently went back and S ranked professional on RE5. Re5 has varied locales on par with RE6 and it didn't have to split it across eight fucking characters. It also follows a coherent, albeit pretty flimsy, premise. I like Leon's campaign. When the game first came out my friend and I cooped it straight through. Fighting a giant fucking lava trex across the stop of a speeding training is about as Japanese as a game can get.
That being said, the game suffers due to the constant jumping. If they'd just made a leon game, or just a Chris game, or even just focused on Sherry and Jake the game would have been infinitely improved. Re5's charm is the out of the box jumping into Michael Bay levels of retardation. It fucked with the horror aspects of 4, but it made up for it with sheer impossible levels of testosterone. Re6 takes time to focus on its characters, but knowing you're retreading these same events with a slight change in perspective wears very, very thin. Add in the fact that the levels aren't designed in a way that makes fighting enemies fun. RE6's Merc mode is nothing short of fucking phenomenal. How it is that the game that contains that heart pounding and overwhelmingly FUN mode was also designed by the people who have you running down corridor after corridor and QTE'ing your way through simple obstacles.
Though Helena's titty monster sister was fuckable.

I have only seen 1 speed glasp ever in that orange REV2 room, I thank RNG. I saw a couple of giant glasps and I thought it was hilarious. I never saw a gold glasp though

RE7 demo has been my first true glimmer of hope for the series in a lot of years. It's about time this series took another big shift, we've not seen a move like this since 4. It might be great, it might not be, but holy fuck the fact they are willing to try gets me more excited than anything.
After playing it it actually rekindled hope that they might get REmake2 right. And that is a miracle.
