The whole "I'm waving mah shield" motion is the window for the Adept guard. It's a big window and the follow-up reloading all your shells make GL more aggressive than ever. It's more situational tho, aerial is more general use and can full burst as muchbut I think Adept is more fun.

There are two different control schemes for Bow. You can change it around in the options menu. Each scheme switches around what X and R does. This sounds minor, but it can make or break how natural the weapon feels.
You deal dramatically more damage the more you've charged. Spamming uncharged shots is no better than tickling the monster. Get that level 3.
Use coatings and bring materials to make 20 extra Power Coatings for longer hunts.
Mega Dash Juice will save your goddamn life and cut your kill times in half.
You must get good at aiming for weakpoints. Body shots will not do. This is the most difficult part.
You must stand at Critical Distance. Not too far, not too close. The screen will shake a bit, there will be a satisfying impact sound, and there will be a bright yellowish/white impact flash. You need 98% of your shots to be this. It might trip you up at first but after using Bow for a while getting into this range will be second nature. For larger monsters you'll sometimes still be in their melee range, so watch yourself and don't think you're safe just because you're a ranged weapon.
