You're describing anime, not JPRG's.

>weebs defend this
just like western faggots defend the bald or short haired protagonist with horrendously looking female character models.

Most people who aren't underage fuckbois know that a large majority of jrpgs don't feature japanese high school settings or the power of friendship because the audience was more expansive in the late 90s/early 00s.

Once the seventh gen came along a lot of anime and jrpgs isolated their target audience. I also find it funny the west tends to find themselves special with the blatant amount of underage children that do play m rated wrpgs.

And yes, bioware, bethesda, and even CDPROJEKT are all a were little boys and girls play their games.

It's like thinking Captain America: civil war or deadpool didn't have kids in mind because the characters are in their 30s/40s and do edgy things like killing and having premarital intercourse.

Seriously what the fuck is wrong with you faggots that you get triggered over anything Japanese? Probably fucking play half life and glaze over nods to things like Akira.

Pic related. High school (male) japanese rpg character.
>>
>>344456395
You can play Yu Yu Hakusho games, Persona Games, some select Shin Megami Tensei games, dating sims in the vein of visual novels like Kawata Shoujou or more deeply involved like Bible Black, the entire Megaman Battlenetwork Takes place among middle school/high school kids in ACDC town, there's games featuring a shitload of high school students in and on western licensed media ranging from X-Men to drama tv like Clueless.
>>
>>344454796
Or in this case, the Master Bait
>>
>>344457347

Those movies don't have kids in mind, and don't try to appeal to them in the slightest.

A kid would probably hate 90% of dead pool and civil war because of references they don't get and tone they don't understand.

The avengers movies are marketed to kids, sure, but the other movies have surprisingly heavy, adult themes and situations.

> jrpgs that don't feature prominently japanese protags or japanese high school setting/cast. Age is variable and tends to yoyo between 16 to early 30s. There are exceptions to the above on both sides of the age scale, IE kids and elders.
The whole of the Suikoden franchise (5+ entries). Final Fantasy, all the way up to and including tactics 13, 14 and 15. Breath of Fire (whole franchise), the Xeno series (all entries), the chrono franchise, last odyssey, and I'm forgetting a lot right now as a type this with a burning fever that tells me to defeat you.

now go ahead and glance over those and focus on the age because western rpgs targeted their hardcore thirteen year old audience with manly men characters. Then you can go back to jacking off to tf2 sfms and bitching about how overwatch is shit.

Literally none of the games you listed are set in highschool you fucking moron. Even worse, not all of the games you listed even include "high school age" characters. Cecil is 20 in FF4 for example, Terra is 18 in FF6, and Cloud is 21 in FF7. Likewise, Shulk is 18 in Xenoblade, etc... Stop posting.

>mysterious new girl

it's more often a mysterious new boy. and they turn out to be some kind of god (who is aligned with the enemies, if not necessary a bad guy). ryoji in persona 3, joshua in TWEWY, alcor in devil survivor 2. typically they have a strange interest in the MC too. call it kaworu syndrome.

Most of the video games with a high school theme are those that are designed around anime culture.
That is not all Japanese video games, even if Japanese animation is prevalent in their culture.

Alright bet.

How many JRPG's are set in medieval fantays settings? Radicalize that number by series (such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Ys), look at the amount of licensed anime jRPG's such as Bleach, Sailor Moon, Megaman Battle Network and Yu Yu Hakusho, find the square root of those numbers based on series, apply the ratio and retort with some practiced vapidity you are preaching.

Then I will agree with you, Only then.

i need some jrpg and its been a long time since ive played one. i've been considering giving the star ocean for ps2 another try. i got pretty far, like 30hrs or so and it was ok. but i think i messed up characters stats or something because i misread the battle system? can't remember entirely.

is it worth giving another shot? or is there some other ps2 era jrpg i should spend my time on?

probably going to emulate if that matters. i have a controller and play other games like armored core. but my ps2 has a modchip so i can burn w/e.

>>
>>344463926
>>344465124

Persona 2 and Persona 4 have a "the power of friendship compels you" final attack.

Persona 1 just has you beat the shit out of things in the end, no friendship required. Persona 3's "friendship power" is in full effect in the final story sequence, but not in the final battle. That instead requires you to literally kill yourself instead of symbolically (like with the guns you use every fight), and the friends don't matter.
>>
>>344465762

>Maybe the churches are dedicated to lesser gods

Most of them are actually.

If you're in NA or Europe, most churches are dedicated to some version of YHWH.

In Japan, if you run across a temple or shrine it's a complete tossup as to which deity it's dedicated to. YHWH doesn't get special treatment there, like everywhere else.
>>
>>344466258
Well yeah but I meant in the vidya gaems
>>
>>344466350

That's... pretty much the same thing.

The games are modeled after Japan. Any shrines and shit you go to in game aren't by default for YHWH, they're for a completely random deity, of which YHWH may be one. It's very, very, very likely that any of the shrines you go to in order to get healed are not dedicated to the god you'll be punching out later in the game.
