I fucking did it. I fucking beat them. After 5 months of playing this game on and off, and constantly giving up every time it got hard, this time I told myself that I wouldn't put the game down until I did it. And I did.

I've come relatively close to defeating him. I haven't sailed though the game or anything, but I've worked out each enemy I've encountered enough to defeat them without much effort, and I've managed to die very few times.
For whatever reason the only trouble I've had so far were the Gargoyles. I'm not using any guides or looking up any tactics, just working the game out from scratch, on my own, so the majority of the game I've taken it very slowly, soaking in the atmosphere and learning.
