right now i play ibuki and sim is my alt sort of i guess. i'm still going through the roster, but i find it's quite boring, its better to stick with one character because you can figure out all the little details and setups. SFV at a low level is too same-y most characters are like medium medium hitconfirms and it all feels the same, until you know them better and all their CH confirms etc.
i don't really care about match-ups, at my level the character is irrelevant, neither of us are really good enough in a super bronze game to exploit match-up stuff particularly well.
i'd like to get decapre because i actually got decent with her and like her skillset. in 4 i played Chun and then some Cammy because the game got a bit more rushdown-focussed in super/AE, then along came Decapre in ultra, with whom i get to use my charge execution, which is much better than my motion execution, but on an awesome tricky character that can rush and mix-up. also Q just for style, but his VA would need to be as cool as in 3S. judging by alex and some others, i should want for original characters and not shitty versions of old characters. i'll take enero, too.

You have to learn plinking to combo consistently, but the game also had ridiculous input shortcuts that fucked people up over time. This is kinda the problem with Ryu: the game is balanced around Ryu, so theoretically speaking, Ryu has no bad match-ups. He has all the tools to deal with every single character, no matter the situation. They may have nerfed zoning in SFV, but they gave him the ability to straight-up say "no" to damage with his parry and he practically shits out damage. I don't mind most of Ryu right now, but I just wish they'd tone his damage down a bit. He can keep the links, the invincible reversals, the tatsu vortex, and the Makoto-speed-dash, but that damage is just way too big of a cherry on top.

You can cancel his dash punch with your v-skill for a surprise grab or an overhead. This can also be done in the middle of your v-trigger combo, so like in your webm, after you've done two dashes for instance you can cancel it with v-trigger and then go for an overhead reset.
His dash is godlike, use it to dash in for grabs or go in and lay on pressure with 2x st.mk for a high percentage of counter hit and then combo to cr.mp>dash punch from there

I'm a 16'er, so I don't give a fuck about the history of street fighter, but I think meterless invincible at frame 1 reversals are the worst thing in a fighting game. Even more on a character like Ryu. He has the best defense with a 3f jab anti air, a DP that shits out damage and a parry on top of that, and yet, he can turn into offense in a blink of an eye with his 16 frames dash (faster than Nash's), knock you down with a 7f sweep and pressure your wake up as much as Mika. But if you do manage to knock him down, you can't pressure him on his wake up. The game is always on his favor.
If only his ex dp was invincible, you wouldn't have to deal with any combo he lands ending in super.
Even with a damage nerf and only his ex shoryuken being invincible, he would still be high tier.

the biggest difference is animations. Capcom has always had great animators since the sprite days, and they kept that up into the 3D era. Strong poses and great follow-through on the hits, plus a lot of little things that just make every character feel more alive. I love the face Bison makes on the character select screen, how Ryu re-adjusts his stance if you leave him sitting for a while, etc.
SNK on the other hand was never able to move their sprite wizardry to the 3D realm. you can even tell in KoF13 - individual sprites look great, but the animations are pretty stiff, outside of neutral poses. and KoF14 has stiff-ass animation everywhere as well.
Game still well within the bounds of "acceptable graphics" for me and I plan to buy it, but.
