The first anime is literally Let's Play Danganronpa 1. A fast-forward (the trials) scene-by-scene adaption. If you've played it, you don't really need to watch it again unless you really want to. It's not terrible.

The world of SDR2 is explicitly made out to be wrong well before the VR twist is confirmed. The punishments happening in different locations aren't any crazier or dumber than what has already been established as possible on the island, and if you actually cared about immersion or whatever you'd have caught on.

Ace attorney was at least fun and was just a comedy and didn't try to hide it, 999 had somewhat interesting setting and sometimes decent dialogues, this one is just some cringey weeb bait. I'm currently at the music avenue doublemurder in dr2 and don't think I want to play anymore. I already tried hard enough to get here. This whole thing is made for teenagers and/or very new to the whole anime medium, I have watched about 200 shows and movies and played a dozen or so VNs, this game just hurts to look at and doesn't offer to me anything interesting, I was expecting something way better considering how hyped up it was, but it's just mediocre anime plot which refuses to deal with something above the level of what is called "naive", this is common for teenager anime bullshit, and game doesn't have anything besides plot at all - it's on-rails, short, absolutely linear, as barebones as it gets.

In some cases they do get enough screentime, in some cases not, but in all they don't get enough characterization. I don't know anything about those people. I can just check a few boxes for each of them, like this one is a baseball player, that one looks like emo and plays music and is being loud and energetic, that one is fat otaku creep (for us gaijins), and that's it, I don't know anything about them. Then they get killed by each other or obnoxious bear. Somewhat decent characters (mind this word) are first victims from each game (because with first one you're led to believe thatshe will be a main girl and you spend a significant amount of time with her, and the second, well, you know, becauseyou've seen him before and you've got all the questions for him and then he dies), and okay, kirigiri too I guess. Those are the only characters who somewhat rise above simple tropebearers as of now for me (music avenue murder in dr2). There is way more characterization for most characters in all VNs that I have read, even including 999, let alone some really text-heavy shit like ever17 or tsukihime. I wouldn't have trouble with this game if it had a decent plot at least, but it doesn't, it's just so on-the-surface, and everything is too oversized to take seriously, then the game throws comedy at you, then another irrelevant background character gets killed, sometimes you get revealed some mystery, like woah, what ifthe whole world is overrun by some rebellion based on emotion and it's anarchy wasteland out there now, which is so ridiculous and tasteless that you really don't care if it's truth or not and just continue with the game. This is not very believable, writers just throw supposedly shocking things at you one after another without any effort to detail those things enough, that way they're just facts and you don't really care about them, thus you aren't getting immersed in the plot.

It's just an exaggeration on the level of the executions from the previous 2 games. For example, why would they still need to put Mondo's body in the morgue if he was turned into actual butter? The same goes for Celeste and how come Junko's body was still somewhat intact for the despairs to toy around with if she was smashed by the garbage machine? All executions in DR2 are the same except the character's data gets wiped in a flashy way.
to this day this game has got to be the best game i purchased on a whim.
