So, basically nothing has been confirmed yet. They circle around the topic of multiplayer and all the sites sucking their dick talk about the best multiplayer ever even though it plays essentially like a single player.

Nobody knows ANYTHING about this pile of crap so far.

Allow me to explain the extent of the game as demonstrated by the devs.

>Fly to planet
>Shoot coloured pillars to collect minerals
>Look at animals and plants (no touching or the space po-po will kill your ass)
>Apply a few meaningless upgrades to change the numbers on your stuff
>Leave planet

You have now played the entire game. Repeat until you get bored or die.

Procedurally generated. Essentially every solar system has a code that will create the planets there when you travel to it. It's more or less identical to the infinite library, if you've ever heard of that

>constant shill threads in the months leading up to release, possibly including this one

>>344416820
Nothing you build is permanent. It all gets reset once you leave the planet except for the names you give to the planet and whatever procedurally generated crap you found on said planet.

The closest the devs came to allowing anything you do on a planet to matter is vaguely stating "Maybe, perhaps, we might, maybe keep a change someone does if it's big enough, maybe, what if, maybe". However since they never really elaborated on that I would say it was complete bullshit and nothing you do on a planet beyond naming things will ever be permanent.

so here is what we realy get

1.
No MP because you can sleep in the game so the time gets fast forward..... BUT when someone plays MP with you what happen to him ? must he fast forward too? or must he sleep too ?
2.
The game is not endless
because the date of things that must be saved gets bigger and bigger until the server or your hard drive cannot take it anymore.
3.
Is 90% exploring..... the fight, story and trade part it not necessary or deep.
4.
its so big that you nearly never see something that is really detailed.... so you get bored because you know how all of it works and there is nothing that can you surprise anymore

This isn't a game anyone would buy if they played it for an hour first, or could understand basic concepts. Obvlivion's overworld was procedural, with stuff added. It was fucking boring, filled with forests that looked nice but had nothing interesting hidden within, so everyone just fast travelled everywhere.

This is that times a thousand, except there aren't any quests to do or dungeons to visit.
>>
>>344416614
85-95 because the first few minutes must be absolutely magical and majestic. Then the user score will float between 20-40 because a lot of them will realize that the first few minutes aren't an entire game.

Anyone with basic coding experience can make a minimalist exploration game that would take 15 billion years to explore.

The main challenge is to make the exploration fun, and I highly doubt No Man's Sky will be fun.

What's funny is that these games could have an interesting idea they're completely missing. Instead of procedurally generating shit, just work out how the animal would move and animate, and then let YOUR AUDIENCE build everything for you. You're going to import a million cock monsters labelled as predators, but who cares? Make the game Mature, kids will still buy it, and treat it as an art exhibit, with new creatures and buildings being created and added all the time by players.

It's like, the longer we wait for this game, the more it stops being about being a galactic explorer.

I want to find an advanced alien race and steal their tech. I want to have land wars with other players over planets with rare goods. I want to band together with other players at somepoint and create an evil fleet of cosmic death. I want to be able to turn planets into weapons to use against other planets.

It literally just seems like its Pokemon Snap in Space at this point.

SC and ED have put people in the mood for one of these 'do everything and anything' space games

NMS is doing its own thing and that makes it shit because its not trying to do something that every other space game has failed miserably at.

Maybe its just the the SF nerd in me, but I don't see why a dedicated team CAN'T make a decent "You explore space and dedicated enough people can make some crazy shit happen" mmo in this day and age.

NMS seemed like you were more than just a space photographer a couple of years ago. Now I'm afraid that that's all its going to be. I don't see them actually creating alien civs, dead or alive, for you to stumble across. I don't see those random space battles you DO run into as being something you can't just fly around and land on the planet anyway, without anyone to stop you if you just take off on the other side of the planet.

The only thing that really makes me not want to buy this is how lifeless the planets look. I hate how the animals just wander around without doing anything in all the videos. It actually hurts me to watch. If the predators actually hunted prey and the herbivores actually ate off plants and weren't put in the open doing nothing it would be cool.

Why would I play this instead of just exploring Space Engine?

This.
If were just going on safari, I want to feel like I'm in danger. I want to get hunted down by apex predators that have senses that I don't. I want to find a planet being slowly eaten by a super kudzu plant. I want to have a planet that's air is 80% plague and I end up leaving a trail of death when I visit x-Number of planets afterwards because of the plague I picked up. Hell, I want to be punished for doing stupid shit, like running out of fuel means that I have to relativistically float until I crash into something or I have to keep warping and hope I end up warping close enough to a planet to crash land on it and spend several hours repairing the ship.
