Why did it work in Alpha Protocol, but not in the other games?
>>
Timer and reasonable descriptions of what you're actually going to say.
>>
>>344400026
Because Obsidian was the one that wrote it for that game.
>>
>>344400026
Because choices actually matter and it has replayability because of that.
I've played though this game like 3 times until I found out that Scarlet is an assasin.

>>344400542
it has the same problems as any game which uses this style of dialogue system

you don't know what the character is going to say, so you don't know whether a witty sarcastic comment is appropriate or way the fuck off what were assuming the character would say

sure it wasn't as bad as Fallout 4, but that game absolutely botched it
>>
Because it gets around the problem most dialogue choices have in games, the inability to determine intent and tone from text, by telling you what the dialogue's intent and tone is.

It also has a time limit which makes conversations feel better.

And Obsidian is just better at writing than other devs.

Of course after he royally fucked up PoE with his horrifying balance decisions.
He should never take part in the development of fantasy games.
>>
>>344402640
He explains it when you talk to him on the big screen in the final level.

"Halbeck's interests had to be protected because it's our interests"

"I was asked to isolate events in the world and create triggers that would benefit america."

China grows more powerful by the day. They are Halbech customers as well. If they are reliant on Halbech, they are reliant on us. Even better, if they can be lured in action in Taiwan, it buys us time to build strength."

Yes, AP pretty much worked for him. Or, rather, for Parker, but Parker aligned himself with Leland.
I don't remember if there's an ending where you kiss and make up with AP, but there is an ending where you replace Marburg as Leland's lapdog. You can also betray him in the last second and create Hallbech of your own, with blackjack and hookers.
>>
>>344403242
They were ordered to cooperate with Halbech in recovering their stolen missiles, assassinating Shaeed, and then later in killing Thorton. Halbech intentially lost the missiles in the first place to give them a reason to take control of AP. Halbech ordered the airstrike on their missiles when Thorton found them, to tie up a lose end before they moved on to doing their shit in the rest of the world.
>>
>>344403460
Best ending. Achieved friendship (+10) with Leland and allied with him, only to say that I don't need him anymore in the end - then prove it by listing all of the allies that I've earned during the game (G22, Shaheed, Surkov, SIE, Steven Heck and others). You need a neutral or above rep, you need to spare every major character you can. Deng, Brako, the other russian guy, the muslim etc. Then you just tell him how badly you messed up his calculations and he sides with you. If you find out about his daughter and she is killed he ends up trying ot kill the bloke responsible. Not sure if he sides with you if you save his daughter or not.

Maybe it makes sense in the context or something, but looking at the screenshots... your options are pretty fucking vague.
>>
>>344407084
because suave has the best lines. Palying the game how you're supposed to is good for one run, but kinda boring. Also Heck responds to both suave and aggressive.
>>
>>344400000
The game was pretty good in the story department. The gameplay was lacking and needed more time.
>>
>>344407507
yeah you have to play it. if you knew what he had just said then you would know what you want to pick.

>every Alpha Protocol torrent has a trojan in it

suffering

>thinking torrents are the only way to pirate games

Even in piracy you are a complete failure.
>>
>>344409963
Get it for super-duper-cheap during Steam sale season. Also, legs
>>
>>344409963
>pirating a great game
Woooow.
>>
>>344407436
Wouldn't flash bulb work then? Can't remember now
>>
Worth buying for cheap on PC?
Part of me wants out all the skills/paths but then again I remember it being pretty poor gameplay wise and glazed with Obsidian bugs
>>
>>344400281
That was probably one of my favorite twists in the game
>>
>>344413396
Doesn't she admit to being some kind of superspy during Taipei?

>Sexy Redhead Lois Lane Reporter Chick
>Aggressive Milf who has no problem taking what she wants
>Sweet yet creepy mute with good fashion sense
>Madison...
>Half Asian chick who may or may not have screwed you over and just covered her tracks really well

Anon you know who is best girl

But seriously, who was in the wrong here?
>>
>>344414245
Heck is never wrong.
>>
>>344400396
I only had one issue bug-wise with the game, and that was in one mission the savecheckpoint was visible by enemies.

>Pirating Alpha Protocol
Support Obsidian man they are the kings of sequels. Imagine how great the sequel to an original game of theirs(Alpha Protocol) would be. They're already doing south park

He should have just told Heck were his keys were earlier.
>>
>>344400026

Because it didn't sell well and /v/ is full of hipsters
>>
>>344412316
nothing works, choppers can always see you no matter what. i guess it's because in real life they have thermal imagery.
>>
>>344414562
Poor guy dies, if Steven has a good relationship with Mike, since Heck frames Wei for all of Mike's crimes.
>>
>>344413821
I think she hints at doing "side work" well reporting but its the main character who gets asked his occupations and the options were oil baron(which she didn't like) and secret agent(which she liked and brings it up later during Taipei/Final Misson.)
>>
Which missions did you guys like playing in order?
For me it was Taipei>Russia>Rome
Rome just felt like the best ending point imo
>>
>>344415081
logically the order would have been backwards, Taipei then Rome then Moscow. since the assassination is the most pressing issue, and then a possible Al Samad terrorist attack in Rome, and finally in Moscow you're just investigating weapon shipments.
>>
>>344415694
That's also the order difficulty-wise. Taipei is fairly straight-forward, Rome is a little more involved, and Moscow turns up the heat.
>>
>>344415081
Same, mainly beacuse Braiko always kicks my ass unless i let Heck poison his coke.
>>
>all these different choices and ways for things to work out
>never get to experience any of them because they're hidden behind awful gameplay

i was pretty disappointed when i realized you can't take that sound system into your other safehouses.
>>
>>344416184
Holy shit that screenshot.
>>
>>344400026
Because the options in the wheel were consistent:

>Professional= Matter-of-fact, patriotic, humanitarian, humble

>Suave=Sarcastic, smug, pragmatic, flirtatious, sly

>Aggressive= Blunt, violent, angry

Once you understood what each of the three options meant, navigating a conversation was easy.
