Is RPCS3 a good ps 3 emulator? I would like to play persona 5 but no way in hell am I buying a ps 3 for one game

The PS3 had an original system architecture that's incredibly different to standard stuff. You could do some incredible shit with it if you had the time or money to invest in learning it but literally no one except Kojima with MGS4 bothered because it's so complicated. We'll likely have PS4 emulation before PS3. Most developers didn't even bother so it's up to fans in their free time to figure out how this shit works. The cell architecture is literally fucking alien technology that Sony got their hands on. They dumped it in favour of standard x86 because it was part of what made the PS3 so expensive at first and led to Xbox having a head start by a year and also being cheaper. There's also the fact that the development of technology over time isn't linear but exponential and only the most expensive of computers these day would be able to get anything approaching playable framerates. Even if it was here today almost no one would be able to make use of it. Give it 5-10 years and it may be around standard for most PCs but then you need to wait for an emulator for the indecipherable cell architecture which is still ongoing and barely scratching the surface of how the fucking thing works.

PS2 emulation is still pretty bad. A lot of popular games (Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Ace Combat) have major graphical glitches.
The PS3 is even more fucked up than the PS2. The PS2 had two VUs, which are responsible for the majority of difficulty in emulating and programming. The PS3 had 6~8 similar SPUs.
Dolphin works a lot better despite the Gamecube hardware being more powerful because the Gamecube hardware is simpler and more standard.

OP might be better off looking for a PS4 emulator instead. There's more of an incentive to emulate PS4 to get around Sony's new mandatory subscription fee and digital-repo policies, and literally every exclusive has turned out to be a severely overhyped disappointment (p5 included).
