Dragon's Dogma almost at 400k on PC now. Could pass a million after a year or so with consistent sales. Pretty good numbers for a game that was offered for free on PS+.

10 hours into dragons dogma and while i think its a good game. I also think its grossly overrated and misleading on pregame advertising in that its supposed to be a huge open world with no loading times. When in reality its not that open worlded, but a series of maps that do require loading times to travel between, much like inquisition. In fact this game is very similar to inquisition in alot of aspects. Which was also a good game.
But. I was expecting something new and amazing with perfect review scores and all the hype. I am severely let down. I will take a last gen skyrim over this for a few reasons.
1. The one map open world of skyrim was amazing.
2. The quests and dialogue of skyrim is unmatched, from killing an orphanage headmaster, uncovering mage school plots, thieves guild quests, demon quests, cisero lol, on top of the main storyline, etc.
3. 1st person is awesome. Even the dull melee combat of skyrim feels fun in 1st person. But ofc using magic was much more fun and varied.
4. Level system in skyrim is also unmatched imo. Even inquisition had a better leveling system imo.
Dragons dogma has good graphics, good story n quests, good combat, good crafting, etc but just doesnt live up to its hype nor surpass skyrim in any way for me. What u guys think?

The only thing I didn't like about Skyrim was how samey everything got as you got in, sure the half of the big DLCs change it up but everything else felt like a slow moving roller coaster with cardboard cutout passengers.

Am I bad at the game or is it more reliant on stats than people made it sound like, because I tried doing the quest of investigating the well as soon as it appeared and got destroyed.
Do I have to have 3 pawns with me, or is it somehow viable to just have 1? I don't like having to have a whole party, it makes exploring feel less fun.
What am I even supposed to do after getting to Grand Soren? Just keep doing the seemingly meaningless quests or go out and explore?
I really want to like this game, but I kind of get the feeling that it's another one that's massively overrated here on /v/.

The difficulty of the quests can be all over the place. You are not the first that has problems with this quest when he started. It's better to do it a bit later then just immediately. Though it might get cancelled out, not sure about that.

It is, but I would not encourage it on your first playthrough.

Yes, you should play the game. That one that leads you under the pawn guild advances the plot, you should do some of the side quests before that.

you don't have many defensive options but once you've stacked up so much strength + damage augments and have some crazy OP warhammer, you start to one-shot all lesser enemies and cause insane stagger/knockback on other shit

Those other classes can equip another weapon, so they end of with 6 skills anyways. Mage/Sorc get 6 because they do not get another weapon. Staff on Mystic Knight only gets 3 because it can use another weapon type.

I could feel my brain cells dying with how boring the gameplay was in normal past level 30. Everything was so meaningless, the curatives, the enemies, the skills. You could face tank everything and just spam the normal combo to victory and still win, and i was playing as an Assassin to boot.

You solved the mystery.
Warrior is a simple and straightforward class designed for some specific roles. He already has both his hands occupied with his giant weapon. Adding any other weapon would probably negate the feel the class offers, make him something different. I heard anons advocating for something like grappling hooks or even a cannon because of muh guts, which would be completely out of place. I'm rather glad that they went through with their choice when designing this class.
I can see someone complaining about having only three skills, but I never felt like needing more than those three.

I would advice it, on normal I never played for more than a couple hours.
On hard I beat the game. You will die to rats and bats though, for a little bit, but eventually you'll be a pretty high level.
I think enemies drop more xp on hard, they for sure drop more gold.

Hard mode is great, you start off getting one shot by almost every creature but eventually you get to the point where you can take a hit or two.
Enemies also drop a shitload more gold and you have something like 2x experience gain.
I played through hard mode on both Xbox and ps3 and enjoyed myself.

Yes you will get mountains of gold in hard, gold you will have nothing to spend on. On normal you will get enough gold to buy anything you want apart from the DLC items anyway, and will never have any need for curatives, ever.

You always have enough money to max out everything on Hard, which renders the economy pointless. You can actually have to save for upgrades or quest for them on Normal, another feature that's straight up absent in Hard.

The only thing that is too expensive is DLC gear, which is still expensive on Hard.

my loli pawn got hired alot of times.. maybe like 5 times as a mage and as a sorceress she gets picked 80% of the time.. Most people pick and choose pawns trough their stats. Try getting better gear and upgrade it for ur pawn.
