Ok so, I had to work and I didn't follow the whole drama, but I'm still curious
What do you think about it, /v/?
Do you think there will be consequences? Was Valve aware of it?
I think you're an eceleb drama loving faggot kys
Valve doesn't give a fuck because they make money from it and they aren't dumb enough to allow this if they were doing something wrong
kys with this youtube drama bullshit
>>344382608
>>344382693
>e-celeb
I heard it was about youtuber, but I don't follow English-speaking e-celebs
Looks more like an actual issue with the law
>>344382608
Spoonfeed me on this I don't get it
Is it basically the owner of a Csgo lottery site promoted it on his YouTube and everyone got mad about it?
>>344382693
>using a valve game to promote illegal gambling among videogame players
>it's somehow e-celeb bullshit because turns out the scammer had a youTube channel
I would say "summer", but sadly this board is pretty much like this the whole year at this point
>>344383436
>guys a make csgo gambling site
>they advertise it on their own channels without disclosure
>like not even subtly, just being completely blatant about it, pretending they had no idea it existed
>oops looks like we got caught
>ha ha we didn't do anything wrong :^)
>oh they have proof we did everything wrong, better go full defense mode backpedaling and make apology videos with dogs and shit
lying scumbags get caught for being lying scumbags, nothing new under the sun
>>344383640
What makes advertising your site literally illegal nowadays? I'm sure other youtubers have promoted their sites using their channels
>>344383861
It's illegal to advertise your own product without actually telling people it's your product.
Likewise it's illegal to promote a product that you were paid to promote without telling people you were paid to promote it.
>>344383939
Then what the fuck is product placement
>>344383861
>>344383939
It's also REALLY fucking illegal to gamble in your own "casino".
Depending on if the government wants to classify this as gambling after investigating they could really be in deep shit.
>>344383939
>It's illegal to advertise your own product without actually telling people it's your product
what's the logic behind this? what makes it a fineable offence?
>>344384562
>be a really popular youtube (or someone with a lot of influence) with mindless drones
>"HEY I FOUND THIS REALLY COOL PRODUCT, GUYS. I'M COOL AND YOU GUYS WANT TO BE COOL RIGHT? BUY IT LIKE I AM."
>Infinite money
>>344384798
>be really popular youtube personality
>"hey I made this product for my TRUUU SUBSCRIBERSS, buy it because I made it and you will support me even though the product is just dogshit in a can but you'll by it anyways because I MADE IT LOL"
>get even more money
Literally no difference
>>344383939
>it's illegal to promote a product that you were paid to promote without telling people you were paid to promote it
Is this why video game journalism has such a high standard of integrity?
>>344385050
The difference is they posted videos of them winning on a LOTTERY page they own.
>>344385209
And yet vidya journalists still do what they always did
Unlike those youtubers that are now in actual legal trouble
>>344383640
thats not even the issue. the problem is that they were gambling on the site they owned and had access to the back end which could potentially be used for cheating, which is why its illegal for someone in that position to participate in the gambling, regardless of if they actually cheated or not.
>>344385246
Sweet Jesus
>>344384562
>>344385050
The two guys in this case make videos of them gambling on sites they "discovered". One is literally the guy who filed the paperwork for the corporation and the other is listed as the Vice President on the same document. They pretend to find the site, start gambling and eventually "gets a sponsorship" over many videos. They advertise their own site to subscriber counts totally 10 million for each guy with no disclosure.
The scandal has also pulled valve into the spotlight because they now support unregulated gambling platforms.
>>344385050
Except there's a law against gambling in your own casino and not disclosing it (ie the customer has no way to know you aren't stacking the results like the guys in the videos always did, they NEVER lost "big" in their vids and always showed themselves winning 2000-4000$ bets on less than 30% chance.
I hope they get a class action lawsuit, countless kids who dont know better were tricked into becoming a slave to fixed gambling.
Friendly reminder to report eceleb shitposting.
do u watch le funny hat jew man too???
