Ive been looking for a game i can get lost into, maybe something like a rougelike or any other top down but a long, deep experience with alot to do, quests, upgrades etc.

I want a game with great pvp and pve. Focus on interesting character customization and good combat mechanics.

I avidly play Dark Souls already. So don't recommend that.

I don't want to play any video games at the moment.

I'd recommend Tales of Maj'Eyal. I have almost 400 hours in that game and there's still a ton I haven't experienced.

Does it have an ascii version?

Cant really think of much, dks is the only games ive played that can do it right.

I should probably specify that I have played many mmos and I think each one's combat mechanics are absolute shit. Even those with good reputations for their combat are just slightly less terrible.
>>
>>344367390
Dunno how you're gonna get PvE and PvP with decent combat mechanics then
>>
Rouge is a color. Rogue is a game that gave birth to a subgenre of dungeon-crawling RPGs. Also some X-Men character, I guess? And a stealthy backstabber RPG character archetype. Know the difference, it could save your nerd cred!
>>
I'd like to play an RPG with a really immersive world and lore, and where I'm only controlling one character rather than a party. Preferably a PC game.

Yourself alone vs a horde of demons and zombie soldiers, but with turbo realistic tactical simulation gunplay like Reciever

Please don't get mad, but Elder Scrolls. I promise it has the most intriguing, fleshed out, and unique lore in video games. The thing is that it's always been rather implicit; it's always presented, but never overtly explained. In-game books and resources like The Imperial Library website and the uesp.net will contextualize the entire science of the universe and change how you think about everything you've ever done or experienced in the games.

I don't mention Oblivion because it sacrificed its lore and uniqueness in favor of vanilla medieval fantasy which really breaks my heart.

Fast paced online arena shooters that actually have a large player base.

Games like that? Today? Ehhh.... I guess DOOM or Overwatch maybe, not quite the same though. Real arena shooters were games such as Unreal Tournament or Quake- for reference.
>>
>>344366267
What games in the picture, OP?
>>
>>344370672
Overwatch I guess. Not fast paced though.
>>
>>344366267
did this game come out?
>>
>>344366962

Possibly of Kings and Men. Beta soon i think according to an email I got recently. I dunno about their pve but I assume since it's essentially a super Mount and Blade mod it will feature the same AI guys. It has armor customizing and making a character. I assume stats will be used since it's made by the CRPG mod team for Mountain Blade which was very stat heavy and one of my favorite mods ever. I can't say if this game will be good or bad though. But it seems up your alley, very very skill based pvp if it uses the same system.

Something about exploring a not necessarily huge area packed with lots of things to do and secrets. Preferably decent combat as well.

there is literally nothing like that. There arent that many post apocylptic shooters unless you want to play Metro 2033/Last light.

If you want a shooter in a big city you could also play Deus Ex HR but the game play is obviously different.

I want to play an addictively online instanced multiplayer ARPG non-MMORPG about grinding loot and stomping large numbers of monsters
BUT
heres the catch:
I don't want it to be carebear mode and restricting player interaction, I want to be able to kill anyone anywhere if they piss me off, and don't want the developers to nerf my build within a month every time I make a new char

Rogue legacy is a roguelite but I had tons of fun if you want hardcore roguelike then I suggest dungeon crawl stone soup. When you die you have to fight the ghost of previous charecters and the fame itself gets brutal. Sword of the stars the pit was also fun
>>
>>344375852
Are there any other dungeon crawlers you would recommend for this sort of thing?

I took a shake at King's Field a while back but didn't get too far in, mostly because I can only handle so much jank like the game slowing to a complete crawl whenever even a single enemy is on screen. I'll have to have another shot at it sometime.

I'd like a good city builder with combat, akin to Cleopatra or Tropico. Maybe an arcadey racing game with good customization, I heard the old NFS Most Wanted might be good for that.

Maybe CK2? That has a lot of emergent gameplay. For something more roguelike/top down, Din's Curse is super long and randomly generated, Depths of Peril is from the same devs and they share a lot of similarities.

To the person who recommended this, you've got great fucking taste. I was going to pick it up since I have some Steam wallet cash sitting around from a refund from one of the sales but realized that I had it already. Probably from some Humble Bundle or from being gifted it by a friend. Whatever the case, this game is great.

I'd say Soma, though there is no combat and it's not really an exploration game you are looking for.

Terraria has huge worlds and shitload of content. If you have played that over a year or so ago you should definitely give it a go now.

The Long Dark, man. Loads of places to explore while also trying to survive a pretty realistic winter.

If you haven't played Cave Story yet then I suggest you play it ASAP. It's definitely one of the best games ever made and I guarantee you are going to replay it at least twice after you finish it.

You'll know why when you get there, just don't use any guide on your first playthrough.

would recommend Dragon Age: Inquisition while you CAN play with your party members its best to just leave the AI handle them and you can focus on your own guy.

the Dragon Age universe is really complex, it seems generic when looked at from the surface but once you delve into the lore it comes clear that its beyond Unique
>>
A game that plays like a polished Dragon age Origins, similar in quality to the witcher 3 and with party mechanics like Baldurs gate 2. It should be complex and hard and set in a world overrun with supernatural beasts. Like how the witcher world was before the witchers killed most of them. Where every village is surrounded by a palisade and you need to hire protection to gather the harvest, where merchant caravans need to hire small armies to protect them when they travel trough the wilds

About your aRPG, if you're open to other types mass effect 2 has some of that. Prototype and it's sequal also allow you to become a god although you start out relatively strong. I'm currently playing a game called tale of wuxia where you really feel you become slowly stronger, it's a tRPG though.

Cheers for the recs. I felt that Mass Effect 1 with you ending up in SPECTRE gear and the Deus Ex-esque skill system conveyed character progression better, but nonetheless 2 was pretty fun.

As for already having played Ace Attorney.

If you want more of the Saw-trapped in places stuff, there's 999 and its sequels. If you really want more "solving crimes" stuff, there's the CSI point n click games along with stuff like LA Noire, but that ones a bit hand-holdey for my tastes.

I'm not that far in the game but I think it's pretty good up till now. There are some minor inconveniences like a few (unimportant) npc's not being translated but overal the atmosphere is good. English is also suprisingly well, no machine translation shit and there's also some humor in it. I think you'll really love it if you're into wuxia.

You should try it if you can, heck you could pirate it before giving it a buy.

A game in which you can get powerful (maybe gamebreakingly) over a long period of time. One that if you invest a long time playing, years even, the game itself becomes trivial. I suppose any MMO can be this way, but most MMOs these days are either shit or have been going for too long so that I missed rare content that will not come back.

For the latter, Black Desert. The game itself isn't focused on levelling and gear, but levelling "life skills". Those are for example trading, woodcutting, crafting furniture, fishing (with ships you can craft even). You can even have workers produce shit for you. I loved trading the most. Jsut the feeling of travelling around on your cart or wagon, seeing the sun set as you arrive at soem city gates, having to look at what you buy and sell where... It was great. Even made it to the top5 of the least population server is the russian version.

A game where you actually have to interactive with stuff

Not like 'you press E on a log, its now in your back pack' but you have to physically grab that log with your hands and physically put it into your backpack. When you want to light a fire you have to stack leaves, twigs and logs so that the fire actually gets going, rather than just having X number of items and a lighter and having it automatically work.

So basically real life, just without the whole 'real' part.
