Ive always marvelled that a 8/10 game like new vegas has a broad, textured, disconnected story that I'm the center of, and has only 2 cutscenes, at the beginning and end of the story
it forces you along a specific path, but that path is incredibly broad and the choices along the way are substantial. you don't have to participate in the story at all, you can walk away or kill your way through anything
and yet there's an entire army of 'gamers' that think ultra linear shit like MGS or mass effect or bioshock, or some other AAA cutscene filth is somehow top tier story telling that should be preserved and emulated
