Does Gamestop do repairs?

I have a couple of original gameboy cartridges that work but don't save games anymore and would like to get them repaired.
>>
>>344320329
repair them yourself, you just have to replace the battery it's not rocketscience.
>>
Just change the batteries, there are plenty of tutorials on how to do it
>>
>>344320329
why ask here when u could ask your local gamestop?
>>
>>344320389
yeah but you need a special screwdriver and a new battery and a soldering iron
>>
>>344320476
why would he ask gamestop if they know if /v/ knows if they do repairs?
>>
>>344320389
It is a branch of rocket science, or do you think rocket scientists don't bother with batteries?
>>
>>344320604

Protip: They don't.
>>
>>344320604
not with batteries inside a children video game.
>>
Just buy it on the eShop, it even has Pokemon Bank access
>>
>>344320492
Which is cheap as hell
>>
>>344320804
The fuck out of here digital shill.
>>
>>344320329
The people that work at gamestop are minimum wage workers that are on par with burger flippers. Half of them don't even play video games.
>>
>>344320492
Soldering is necessary only if you break off the clips that hold the battery, and you can just use a small prong to unscrew the case if you are too cheap to buy the screwdriver
>>
>>344320492
Order a game bit screw. They're pretty cheap. You don't need a soldering iron since electrical tape works just fine. Only hard part is making sure you don't break it while removing the battery but it should be fine as long as you take your time.
>>
>>344320492
You know it's worth learning how to solder. It has many more applications for gaming.
>>
>>344320492
Which is going to be way cheaper than whatever store will ask you.
>>
>>344320492
Saw a youtube video where someone melted an old pen cap thing to use as the screw driver.

>paying 100+$ for a battery change
>but le you poor memey
>>
>>344320329
Gamestop doesn't work with anything that isn't DS, 3DS, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii, Wii U, PS3, or PS4 when it comes to playing video games.
>>
>>344320329
Just buy it on your NEW Nintendo 3DS for $9.99
>>
>>344321074
Cost me less than $10 total when I repaired my copy of silver a couple years back. Works perfectly now.

Don't bother OP, treat those old cartridges as antiques and just emulate the games.

I'm keeping mine for later when they're worth more than $20 each.

$20 and tools you can reuse.

I've done this to open my n64 before. It works well, just make sure you've got a bunch of pens handy.

>battery is $1
>screwdriver is $3
>you don't need to solder anything

Every other tool he mentioned is also less than $10, so yes you are poor
>>

Do it yourself. It's incredibly easy.

If you do take them somewhere don't go to gamestop. Look for smaller shops or locally owned places. I know a guy that runs a small vidya shop in my city and he replaces these batteries all the time on cartridge games. Offers it as a service if someone asks.

If you don't want to buy the bit to open game boy cartridge (which is cheap as all fuck) just take a shitty bic pen with the see through shaft. Heat it with a blow torch and when it's good and pliable-push it against the fastener on the back until it cools. You know have a ghetto game boy cartridge bit.
