Neptunia became a meme. IIRC there was a dedicated shitposter back when HDN1/Mk2 were new that was constantly making threads shitting on Atelier or something and that really contributed to it. Most of the people that shit on HDN1 haven't actually played it. That said, objectively it's a pretty bad game, but I love it. Some really good music and great dialogue. Also really liked the time trials and how hilariously broken the battle system was.

Got it when it first came out and have been a fan of the series since
The story is still the best in the first game
Also planeptunes and leanboxes themes were the best in the first too

If by "first one" you mean HDN1, then you ought to at least try Mk2/V or the Rebirth games. If you mean Rebirth 1 then no, you're probably not going to like any of the main games. Could try the spinoffs, but PP is pretty much the worst game in the entire series.

It's not Nep 7. It's V-II, as in Victory II. The fourth game in the series.
And it's a PS4 port, so if you had trouble running a Vita port like the Rebirth games you'll have no chance running this one.
