GDI has superior firepower, and cool implemented units that still manage to be mostly practical.

NOD skewers it way too much towards gimmicky high tech concepts, which for some reason doesn't draw me as much in this particular case.

Still waiting for a NOD mod for XCOM 2
>>
>>344296479
Great mp, pretty lucklaster single player campaign. I enjoyed it when it came out, but I was a huge C&C fan already, but replaying it it wasn't anything special. The main appeal was the ability to drive loads of vehicles, but today that's almost expected in a FPS.

The story is even more corny than Escape from L.A.

You mean fucking savage tech. My only beef with nod is their building tech tree was a bit too similar to GDI, you couldn't take full advantage of their unit's mobility. If their construction was similar to the Japanese faction in red alert 3 I think we might've had a completely different game.

You know, Tiberian Sun was my first C&C game and I really liked what it did to the atmosphere. The art made it look like a world that was two degrees removed from being a barren, lifeless wastelend, like the apocalypse had already happened and the world was just on its dying throes with no way back.

I can understand why people don't like the sudden mech spam everywhere, but the fact that Tiberium Wars dialed that atmosphere back significantly always disappointed me a bit.

All that bothers me in it is the poor performance. The game is still beautiful to this day, but there's no reason the damn thing should be capped at 30 FPS, feels stuttery as all hell.

i didnt like how the game went from sci fi to WW2 shit. Only a small hand full of units remained unique in C&C3 like the nod butterfly soldier, where almost every single unit in C&C2 was unique. the perfect example was the grenade disk thrower from 2 that became just some guy throwing a grenade in 3, with correct placement you could do attack ground from ontop of hills and have the disks glide into your enemys base from 3x the normal distance, or just missing an enemy would have the disk go some other place.

also the aliens went from this awesome mystery thing to this garbage >>344298278

Scrin were planned as a faction in canceled Tiberium Twilight, before C&C3 and they would be the same Scrin as in C&C3.
>>
>>344297580
There is nothing interesting in it. It's an entirely unremarkable game.

>>344299608
To be fair, as far as tone is concerned, Tiberium Wars is far more faithful to the tone of the original game than Tiberian Sun was. So in that sense the series was just returning to its proper roots.

I agree though, finding that alien ship during the campaign blew my mind, and its aesthetics are far better than the vaguely insectoid nonsense of the Scrin
>>
>>344299608
>i didnt like how the game went from sci fi to WW2 shit

I said a similar thing when C&C decided to cash in on Starcraft and went from realistic military to scifi shit
>>
>>344299596
I still don't get what's the issue with Red Alert 3 beyond the comedy being more prevalent and how unbalanced the multiplayer was with Imperial Infantry spam everywhere [or so I hear].
I actually really like it, and wish there was a fourth one.
>>
>>344299948
I don't know, I kind of like the Scrin being insects. Throwing waves of Zone Troopers at them felt like the closest thing to a Starship Troopers RTS.
>>
>>344299608
C&C 3 had unique units though. Like the Zone Troopers that could crash a party anywhere on the map with the drop pod and jump around with jetpacks. Or the Avatar that could rip the weapons off other units and attach them to their chassis. Beam cannons I think they were called, the ones that could link up their lazer beams to increase power, were also fairly unique.

Kane's Wrath had even more new toys to play around with thanks to the ultra/faction specific units. Also that Scrin ship is pretty much how their units look in game so I dunno what you're talking about there.

Kane's motivation has shifted over the years
Remember that in the second game, his plan involved a "world altering missile" that would genetically mutate mankind to make it more compatible with Tiberium.

At the same time, he's NOT of the same species as the Scrim, seeing as they have his genetic information but it is classified as "unrecognized" or something like that.

For its multiplayer, Renegade was fucking great, they nailed down the C&C as a FPS part. It's too bad it didn't get a sequel where they could've refined their ideas further and it's too bad it's pretty dead these days along with Renegade X.

Would've loved to see an actual game that took place during Tiberian Sun or even Tiberium Wars with the more crazier units and settings in play.
>>
>>344300442
>>344300917
Please Tiberium Sun was heavily influenced by Starcraft and an incredibly long way from the original C&C. C&C 3 was a welcome although slightly disappointing return to it's roots. The whole mentality of the creators is literally "This is popular so lets copy this" even the original C&C was different from how they intended it to be which was originally high fantasy with wizards but Westwood co-founder Louis Castle: "War was in the news and the threat of terrorism was on everyone's mind. That definitely had an effect on the fictional world of C&C"

No way did developers with that mentality accidentally end up with a similar game to Starcraft just 1 year later.
>>

C&C has some deep lore
https://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/196957-command-and-conquer/faqs/13721
>>
Too many missions in C&C95 had you working with a small rag tag team of units without the means to produce any more. I was only a kid back then but fuck I hated those they just felt way too tense, especially since you didn't have a radar for a lot of them and if you lost even a few troops it was usually MISSION FAILED. And then just to tease you, they start giving you a base without a conyard or warfactory that you have to defend against waves of troops and you need to repair your tanks on a repair plate.

I just wanted comfy base building that allowed me to tech up and build whatever I wanted. Even then the levels where you could were insanely light on Tiberium close by and that meant you had to expand closer to the enemy to harvest, which was always not so comfy and made me have to leave the security of my sandbag walls
>>
>>344304925
Didn't help that the AI was relentless. You'd better be training troops constantly, because the AI damn well was.

Then I found out about the sandbags thing.

Same with Forgotten and CABAL. EA said something something "we'll try to remain faithful or at least put them in". All we got is Ben10 guy acting as a mutant, and CABAL appearing for 10 seconds in Kane's Wrath

I dont get it. After tib wars I thought they learned that free super powers were cancer and they would add cost to it.

But instead they just maed the most retarded powers ever.
>hey lets make this superpower that sucks up a bunch of tnaks with no counterplay
>yeah and then when all the tanks are sucked up, he has another free power that drops a bunch of bombs but also does more damage if he already fucked over the guy with the tank suck power.
>brilliant
Then you had the japanese who were retarded in early patches since their early game harassment unit was both air superiority fighter and superb harrassment unit. And dont forget that if both air and ground werent safe they could just go on the water. Or how their hero unit could juggle multiple enemy tanks while for other hero units tanks were the best way of countering them.

Then there was the problem that building tech was complete cancer for half the races. For empire it only allowed you to upgrade one by one, for allies they just didnt tec since they rather use their CY to build expansions.

Only good idea was the focus on water and amphibious units (which were poorly executed)

How is C&C 3? I remember playing it back when it released, but I was still in my DOOD COD LMAO phase and wasn't a large fan

Should I give it another go?

Yea, it's pretty good, it would have been better if they properly supported it too. Say what you will about blizzard, but they support their games long after release giving them longevity and arguably better balance compared to the competition

It's good shit, in my opinion. It also had an expansion called Kane's Wrath that is a love letter to Tiberian Sun, and the series' swan song. The two last great C&C games, in my opinion. Scrin were pretty damn cool and their air game was OP as fuck

I can't do Kane's Wrath, I don't know if it's actually harder or if I just suck at RTSes since I finished the others, but Kane's Wrath beats me.

during roman times christians were getting hunted down and tortured until they gave up their faith. Those who didnt either got burned or left to rot in a cell.
When the chirstian faith became official the christians needed to reevaluate the faith of the people who broke under torture. Confessors were people who didnt break and thus were true christians. Therefore they were the people who could weigh the faithfulness of other christians.

>If their construction was similar to the Japanese faction in red alert 3 I think we might've had a completely different game.
they had those mobile factories in firestorm.

But yeah it would be neat as fuck if they had subterrian building drones. Like they can burrow a bit and then if they are in position you can make them start building underground until around 80% construction they would surface and finish up.

We're talking about nod, not gdi

GDI

Both lore and game play.

But NOD was a hell of a lot of fun to play for both lore and gameplay
