Do you protect your handhelds with cases/pouches?

If I take one out with me, I just put it in the padded notebook section of my bag.
I put the hard shell from P4Goldn LE on my vita though, because I get paranoid about something happening to the analogue nubs. 3DS or PSP just get thrown in as is.
Exposed screen = protective case
Non-Exposed screen = no case

3ds no. Clamshells should be a standard for anything that goes in your pocket. Why did phones do away with it?
Vita I have a fuck big case that doubles the size of the device. Can't fit it in my pocket. But I do have a tiny fire emblem pouch that I use on it for light traveling.
Nah. I just put it on my pocket. They're usually deep as hell so I don't have to worry about it slipping out.
Screen protectors are essential though. I don't even like opening my system the first time unless it's to put those things on.

Modern phone screen are pretty hard to scratch without doing it on purpose, or putting it in the same pocket as your car keys or something.
