I've tried Morrowind a ton of time and always burn out about 5 hours in. I usually try sword and shield with medium armor, redguard or nord. What's an interesting build that might let me stick with the game more?

I'm playing a melee Orc with some picklocking/sneak, enchantment and alchemy knowledge.
Didn't get to use alchemy or enchantment yet but it's still early on, I just got like the third title in the Fighter Guild and cleared a few caves. I still kick some ass, tho.
It's fun walking around in heavy armor and a robe, smashing the shit out of people with your big, magic 2H axe.
God I hate nords. Skyrim must be the most shitty backwards province in all the games.

nah only once. I went dunmer willpower knight with that build and shit got crazy real fast with spellcrafting and enchanting. It doesn't really matter what build you have by endgame because huge amounts of money can replace skills and attributes through paid trainers and enchanters. have fun anon

What kinda game version do you have?
I pirated the GOG GOTY edition (you NEED the GOTY edition) and everything works fine, except for a crash almost every time I exit the game.
Somebody showed me a video where some annoying tubster with glasses and tie talked about the installation, he said it helps to start up Morrowind before modding it.
Just until you're in the main menu, then you can exit the game.
The installer itself is pretty foolproof, can't imagine you fucked up something there.

I've seen this a few places and I'll second it, apparently it's just that the game needs to generate its initial settings before you apply any mods, helps with stability.

Get MCP or whatever, enchanting 100 things and the window closing every time is fucked. (Also for making money with Enchanting)
Get restore magicka spell effect for enchanting if you're spell casting.
Alchemy/enchanting synergise a lot (tbf alchemy synergises with anything).
Using enchanted items gives enchant xp.
Fortify skill spell (effects) can be bought from Mournhold iirc
Later game summoning Golden Saints is your bread and butter.
Alchemy can be utterly game-breaking, just depends how far you want to go with it.
