Sixth gen probably has the highest density of top-notch games, and it was the point where the consoles progressed to their greatest level of technology before being dragged down to the grave by modern industry tactics. You could spend your life playing all the great games just on the PS2 alone and still probably not exhaust its library, and that's not touching the GC, XBox, or DC. Third, fourth, and fifth all have a high number of great games but not to the same extent as the sixth. Although, my personal favorite game is TWEWY, which technically counts as seventh gen I suppose.

The PS2 pulled down a load of great series like Crash, Spyro, most JRPG series crashed on PS2 as well like Final Fantasy, Grandia, Wild Arms, Suikoden etc. The Gamecube was fun but I own 10-12 games for it and there's nothing else out there worth getting.
