The tank controls will take some getting used to even if it's in a 3P camera, and Leon's Parkinson's aim was a shit mechanic even in 2005. Get past those antiquities and it's a superbly crafted game that future titles haven't matched since.

RE6 is unabashed bullshit in the best way. RE4 was a more action-oriented RE game, RE5 had this weird balance between action and horror that flopped on its face, and RE6 just goes full retard.
For instance, Jake's campaign is essentially Resident Evil 3 on steroids, where a discount Nemesis purses you as you go and wrassle zambos. Oh, and you get Sherry to tag along for the ride.
It's a mindless game that you need to accept for what it aims to be. Playing it with any level of seriousness will just kill the enjoyment. Grab a friend along for the ride if possible. It's dirt cheap

Maybe for the first arena but after you get the timing and range of enemies down the game is fairly easy even on hard. Similar thing happened for me with RE5, after getting past the first area where you're trapped and seeing how things work (which is pretty much like RE4) the game was relatively cake.
RE4 just had a creepier atmosphere with the village and was brand new. RE5 is a rehash and only had some creepy areas like the foggy swamp and the Licker factory

When I was 7 and played the original RE games, I think the farthest I ever made it on my own was to the hunters of RE1 and to the lab of RE2. A lot of them can be brute forced if you have enough time on your hands, which a child certainly has.

No idea how ammo drops works, no idea what to spend you cash on, one bad purchase can set you back immensely. Enemies deal a fuck ton of damage, even if you discover how gold herbs work at the very beginning, you won't have max health. The enemies also go progressively tougher throughout the game with head armor and the plagas.
There is just a vast difference in how powerful you feel in RE4 and RE5, I've never felt like I wasn't up to the challenge when playing RE5.
Something to consider is that you have a partner system in RE5, which adds to the power trip nature. In RE4 you had to protect someone who was weak and couldn't defend.

Is this revisionist history? The game showers you with ammo from the get go. It takes very little to realize killing shit provides cash, ammo and herbs.
Using currency to buy new gear is common in vidya. So unless it was your first or one of your first games none of those comments are even valid.

Early Resident Evil is based more off jump scares and stress of not having enough ammo or health items to survive. Silent Hill does the same but with more unnerving looking enemies and environments.

Playing through it for the first time ever at the moment, never really got into it when I was younger. I'm just after the bit where you go through the mine on that cart. Does anyone else thing the game has some pretty serious pacing issues? It was all fine until near the end of the castle section, where its been having some ups and downs. I feel like they could have cut some of it out, it just feels like mindless killing for the sake of drawing out the campaign a bit. Also, the dialogue is cringeworthy at best.
