I wouldn't make the claim that this game has a deep cooking system but lately I've been playing Project Zomboid with a friend. It's less shit than it used to be. There's food that needs to be kept in a fridge or else it goes bad, food like ice cream will melt if not in a freezer, canned food for when electricity goes out, raw meats need to be cooked, you can burn stuff, there's a ton of recipes, etc.
Such a thing doesn't exist.

MGS3 has some really excellent survival elements, although it focuses more on hunting than cooking. I love the stamina bar aspect in that game. Those flavour-of-the-month MMO survival games (DayZ, Rust, etc.) generally involve food preparation as far as I'm aware, but I can't think of any survival games with a substantial recipe book.

Stream everything for free, pay for nothing. It's pretty good, only drawback is some stuff with have fansubs or fandubs instead of the actual fucking dub or sub. Supposedly that one is going away though.

I think because a big focus of the show was appealing to a nostalgia factor of Japanese candy, even if it's done effectively, is lost on a lot of Western audiences, because we don't get 90% of the junk food they focus on unless you happen to live near an Asian supermarket. Those kind of candy shops are not even all that common, the most we see are chains like Sweet Factory. The only thing most western weebs will get is the Ramune scene. That and the main plot point about the MC taking over the shop is only really touched on for like 3 episodes.
