Spore had more hype, and disappointed people spectacularly. It's still THE benchmark for a game not living up to its promises.
NMS isn't pretending to be anything more than a walking/flying simulator, and the worst those can be is boring. But it will at least appeal to the people who want that kind of shit. The only ones disappointed are the idiots who watched the first trailer 3 years ago and haven't followed up on anything since, and expect the game to be full of YOU CAN DO ANYTHINGGGGG and TECHNOLOGY and stuff.No matter how well it does, or how good it is, /v/ will continue the "spore 2.0" narrative and proclaim it a massive bomb.
