Metro 2033, Last Light:
Game had a great environment for missions on the surface, but didn't take you there very often.

Also, the game's theme would have been great for a multiplayer experience, possibly a survival game where you could have some friends join you in maintaining your own station as well as scavenging for supplies on the surface. This would have diluted the feel and story of the canonical game, but would have been a fun experience.

Reading the novel currently, pretty good so far.

Also there were way too many shmup sections or gimmicky levels where the gameplay suddenly changed in general. I'd say only the bits where you controlled the Virgin Victory in a rail shooter and the isometric shmup were fine, and the latter lasted way too damn long.

Still love the game to death though.

SMAC needs better UI. It wouldn't hurt if it had higher resolution. AI is utterly incompetent with terraforming. Music is good, but it wouldn't hurt if it had enough variety for each faction instead of sharing shit.
