Fighting Force 3 was being developed.
What killed the series was the death of the beat 'em up genre and the lack of any real interest in the 3D ones in the first place.
Even though FF2 was more of an action game, the fact that it was the sequel to a beat 'em up that received lukewarm reception didn't help.
Might have helped if they had developed the series as 3D Streets of Rage like it was originally intended to be.
