What went so horribly WRONG?
They traded good gameplay for tits.
>>344218003
i've never actually seen anyone talk positively about the star ocean series anywhere so i'm not sure where you fans actually hide or why anyone expected a star ocean game to be good but here we are i guess
At least SOIV had a somewhat okish combat system.
Combat is not playtested, not grounded at all. Cant juggle any enemy at all. Animations are reused as fuck, same with some enemies even. This game is just shit.
I love the voice acting though.
No Fiore porn
>>344218220
SO III is actually good, the first two are old fashioned JRPGs.
>>344218373
isn't star ocean 3 the one with a really horrible twist
>>344218162
Equivalent exchange.
>>344218003
I bought it on launch day but haven't started it yet. Trying to 100% Odin Sphere first.
Actually picked up SO5 and Grand Kingdom the same day, too much games man.
>>344218916
I really regret paying 60 bucks for this. It's worth maybe 20.
>>344218572
Combat is really good in so3
You are now realizing you can't name a single good JRPG that came out after 2010
>>344218916
>Trying to 100% Odin Sphere
That sounds like one boring task.
>>344219441

SMT x FE
Combat is really clunky at first but as you get more party members and abilities it comes together
>>344219441
>>344219441
Disgaea 4, Fairy Fencer F, Tales of Xillia 2, Trails of Cold Steel, and The Witcher 3,
>>344219829
The camera ruins everything though.
>>344219469
Yea I mean it kinda is, but I got most of the trophies just getting the good/bad endings so I figure I'll just go for it.I've never platinumed a game before and I really want to finally
>>344218572
Shame that combat is the only good thing about SO3.
The characters are unlikable, the plot is retarded, and it holds the title of "Worst Plot Twist In Any Medium" without any opposition.
And the crafting was a wretched pile of shit, which is truly the worst part of it.

Phantasy Star Online 2
As someone who has only played SO3 and liked it would I like this one?
>>344220849
If your favorite part was the combat, no.
If your favorite part was the story, no.
>>344220112
Do you own any Telltale games or Life Is Strange?
>>344220849
No. Game is shit through and through. Rhere i just saved you $60
>>344222202
Yea I own the Life is Strange limited edition, I imagine that is a pretty easy platinum?I'm playing through it with my girlfriend actually but it's taking us forever because we only play for a bit every couple weeks and end up arguing over what decisions to make
>>344218003
Might as well have been an on rails experience like FFXIII. The side content isn't enjoyable and requires some painfully tedious backtracking through the same MASSIVE FUCKING areas over and over again.
I enjoyed the cast, story, and soundtrack. Gameplay was so shallow you could get through any battle without looking (except to revive people if you didn't give Miki dead man walking).
The "cinematic" story telling also makes it hard to enjoy the game. The cutscenes are snoozefests and they go out of their way to make it hard for you to enjoy the side conversations and such.
>>344218220
The original was great.
>>344220069
>The Witcher 3
I laughed
>>344218003
Better yet, what went so right?
I just want to deflower Annes virgin puss
>people complaining about the length
Try playing the game. You will see how the shallow combat and lack of areas would make having it any longer be absolutely unbearable.
>>344226828
Yet you haven't played it. It's a better open-world MMO than .hack and Sword Art Online combined.
>>344229040
This. I was stupid enough to grind to max roles to be unstoppable (with a healer nearby). Yet I could take on the final dungeon anyways, after a tiny bit of save-scumming the synthesis system.
>>344229583
I haven't even bothered with any of those mechanics. Nothing in this game so far has been even remotely difficult so I don't see why I should bother with crafting and augmenting
>>344218220
2 is a great game all around, 3 has good combat and dungeon design but an awful story and characters. 4 was a worse version of 3 and after it was announced that 5 would have 3's director as the producer people had hope for it to be okay again but now it turns out 5 is even worse than 4.
>>344218272
Combat is a huge gripe of mine. Why are there no combos? You gotta mindlessly spam skills to do damage
>>344218003
So is this true kusoge, or is it really just a short game that's meh overall? I collect kusoge, but it needs to be something that belongs with the like of Tales of the Tempest and Agarest.
>>344218003
>Terrible camera, in the field because it moves up and down with every tiny bump you go over, in battle because it sticks itself down to the ground and is too close which makes it difficult to see anything and impossible to play strategically with the clusterfuck 10+ characters in them
>Combat is shit because of that and it's even more based around just alternating your X and O skills than 3 was because of everyone's massive MP pools and bonus damage
>Item creation is neutered, it's just "get ingredients, make item" instead of the great creation system of 2
>Brings back the horrible equipment enhancement system of 3 and 4
>Maps are huge but your movement speed is slow as fuck, hold circle at all times for a light jog, made worse by all the walking back and forth in the story and the poor world design
>90% of cutscenes are just your party standing around and talking in-engine which is both inadequate for exposition and boring to sit through as the characters make generic Mass Effect-tier gestures
>Any time an interaction doesn't lock your movement you could easily accidentally skip it by walking through a loading zone, such as the cutscene after getting Victor for the first time at the gates of Hyddi or whatever the fuck it's called
>RNG-Based gathering with skill levels that are just padding the menu and your SP
>90% of character development occurs in PAs, like Relia who says all of ten words for the first 8 hours of story scenes but talks all the time in PAs
>Stupid PA system where you have to constantly reload the map to activate it again
>Save point-based saving without a world map where you can save anywhere
>"Get 10 boar ass" notice board quests which are a requirement for most skill books
>Arbitrarily locks off areas with "no I don't want to go there" instead of naturally with strong enemies or even guards
I haven't even finished it yet but in the first 8 hours there's only been 3 actual cutscenes compared to the dozens of in-engine talking ones.
>>344229414
I laughed cause he put in the list as a JRPG game.
Gameplay still shit tho.
>>344219441
Xenoblade, Atelier Meruru, Ayesha, Rorona Plus, and Sophie. That's really all I can think of.

>>344233184
that annoying brat? nty
>>344233003
Whether it's better depends on what you thought of Arland. I'd consider Rorona Plus the better game, but Ayesha was also great because it was similar to Totori in design in having a big world interconnected world map and several towns. Ayesha also had loads of events and lasted a long time, and a great soundtrack. The big problems with Ayesha are dumbed down alchemy (no individual item quality or traits, need to level up and get skills before you can use basic functions from Arland like transferring traits), and inconsistent difficulty. If you like the open approach Totori gave you then you'll like Ayesha too.
Just remember that the PS3 version is shit because it's dub-only.

i see, thanks
i'll get it to try out
Everything.
