The thing is anon the game is worth replaying for the atmosphere alone. It is one of the best examples of world building out there. My girlfriend is a total graphics whole and a subhuman casual when it comes to video games, but when started playing VTM:B despite the crappy graphics and the abysmal animations, she immediately got drawn in because of the fucking atmosphere that literally pours out of the screen/speakers. Now me as a person who has played vidya for the better part of the past 25 years, I can say with a clear conscioness that gameplay wise it is dated, and there's only so much you could do. Still worth replaying every 5-6 years in order to keep things into prespective and not let nostalgia goggles cloud your judgement.

Aged as in, after the second play thorough today you'd see that there's not much else to see and you'd see how the majority of choices lead to the same conclusion. Something I didn't feel or see even after the 5th run back in 2004. The reason is games have really come a long way since they as much as /v/ tells you otherwise. And yes, atmopshere and character like the game is still top notch.

Well for one, Thief and SS doesn't do character interaction and open-ended quests at all, so you can't compare them. It does character interaction better than Deus Ex (which is why I said that talking to NPC's is the only thing that Vampire has going for it) but Deus Ex's quests blow it away. Vampire's quest choices are limited to dialog prompts, whereas Deus Ex's are fully integrated into its gameplay.
I put forward that Vampire should be ranked alongside Fallout, Arcanum, and Planescape: Torment, not the holy trinity of immersive sims Deus Ex, Thief and SS. But what's funny is that the talky RPG's does NPC's and C&C much better than Vampire does them, so it's really not the king of anything.

Warren Spector came up with the term. Basically, it's a genre that's usually played out in first-person and stresses open-ended experimentation and interaction. Vampire fails at this because the only place you can find this open gameplay are dialog screens and the character sheet.
